tongue tied babies question..

How was the procedure? Did it hurt the baby when it was done. How long did it take to heal.and did the baby eat right away?? Found out my daughter has it. And is going to be seen by a specialist soon. To get it corrected .never dealt with it so kinda worries me.

Yeah I'm going to ask . but either way I can't wait for her to get it done. She struggles so much with the bottle ?.

I have state insurance as well and they covered it, but we had it done with scissors, not a laser. That wasn't an option for us where we were referred to, so I don't know if insurance would've covered the laser.

Okay ty for letting me know ☺

Btw. A lot of insurances won't cover the laser.

Our dr snipped with a scissor.

Just a drop of blood and no crying and nursing right away. So easy and so happy we did it.

Mine had a lip and tongue tie. I took her to the dentist and they lasered it. Zero bleeding! Took about 10-14 days to heal. (You have to do sweeps over it so it doesn't heal back together!)

Her latch is 100% better. I looked up the pros and cons between cutting and using a laser. Personally I'm very happy with the route I chose

I think mine pays well I'm hoping it does. I have the state insurance so we will see

Do any of you know if insurance covers this type of procedure or do you have to pay out of pocket?

Wow! Yeah I'm glad they caught it early

My baby had it done and it was fine. He cried for a little bit but was fine after and latched immediately. Now my 7 year old just got diagnosed at the dentist with having it and the procedure is a little more involved in the sense that they will need to numb it and he has to have the gas. I just wish they had caught it back when he was a baby. He also had a speech issue at age 3. Not sure y they didn't check it then

Awwww lol my daughter goes crazy with her tongue now ...imagine when its finally done lol..

One thing I noticed right away, besides less painful nursing, was my baby sticking her tongue out. Once she calmed down, she just kept sticking her tongue out like she had a new toy to play with! It was like she was saying "look what I can do!" Lol. It was the cutest!

My daughter had a tongue and lip tie. We found tongue tie at 2 days old becuz I was in alot of pain while nusing. Found the lip tie at 6 days old when we saw an LC. We went to an oral surgeon and had them both cut at 8 days old. The procedure took literally 2 seconds, and they had me nurse her right away. She bled quite a bit at first, but the nursing helps to stop the bleeding. Mouths bleed alot and babies are so small so i think the blood looks worse than it is. The absolute worst part was the stretching exercises that I had to do before every feeding for 2 weeks. You have to rub your finger under the lip and push underneath the tongue to keep the incisions from healing back together. It was awful! We both cried several times while doing that. But, I do not regret it at all. It has made such a difference in her eating (for both of us), so I am so glad we had it done. It was the right choice for us. Good luck.

I didn't know she even had it . she would struggle with the nipple n thought well she doesn't like that one. N I kept buying different ones n nothing so I told her doc n he looked at her mouth n yup it was tongue tied n from I see lip tied too. So they sending her to see someone so they can correct it before she gets older. N lately she's been doing that clicking sound while feeding. She's struggling a bit with her feedings she would take 3 ounces only n sometimes not even that. So glad they found it now

My dd has a tongue and lip tie. They didnt clip hers...i didnt take her until she was like 4+ months though bc i didnt know. Anyway since she was gaining weight and i wasnt in pain they didnt do it. She hurt me in the beginning and she would click while nursing and take in air which would make her gassy. But the nipple pain went away long before i took her in. Apparently the procedure is harder on them the older they are. Anyway we just have to have her reevaluated at like 18 mo or 2 years to see if it has corrected itself or if it may effect her speech.

Yeah they wouldn't do hers either hers is pretty tight but none of my babies had that problem at all .

But the doc will check first before they cut.the doc told me he would not cut if it wasnt that severe because alot of tongue ties corrects itself as the child gets older.but my lil girl's tongie was really tight and he said it would affect her speech and it sure affected her feeding.its worth it in the end

It takes a few seconda in the doctors consulting rooms.they snipped my baby girls tongur and she cried alot and it bled alot.they want them to start nursing right away after because sucking produces suliva wich makes the wound heal faster.it took her a good 15minutes to finally start sucking the bottle rigt after and they check to see if it stopped bleeding before we went home.her first feed after we got home was a nightmare.she would suck a bit, crie a bit.untill she would finish the bottle.i gave her some tylenol and the next day she was fine.it takes a while for.them to get used to but i could see a diffrence instantly.

Ty yeah I did the Google thing and of course they scare u to death lol...that's why I needed to ask some of the mothers

It's a relatively easy and common procedure. Look up frenulectomy and it will give u several medical sites explaining the procedure and what to expect.

All will be well mama, good luck.
