Nobody would benefit from making our kids sick or dead. Here in Canada, we don't pay for vaccines. Why? Because we know that it costs a heck of a lot less to pay for preventative medicine than it does to have a large amount of sick people, or people who aren't capable of working or paying taxes.

We vaccinated our son. Shots here start at 2 months. Fortunately, only side effect he had was an amazing sleep that night and was a little crabby, which wasn't a concern for us. There's no harm in talking to your doctor, if your baby has had a reaction. They didn't go to medical school to get great at high fives- make yours put their degree to work alleviating your concerns and explaining their answers. Good luck!

I'm going to vaccinate my son but I'm going to ask for them to be spread out. Like others mentioned the benefits outweigh the risks. Even though they do not cause autism I hate when people use that and I'm outraged that a midwife would tell pp that story to scare her just because she knew ONE kid who had autism. If someone fears having a child with a developmental disorder more than they fear their child dying of a preventable disease they've got their priorities messed up.

Why would they report sleepiness and fussiness to VAERS? That’s a very normal & typical reaction.

Yes, the human race survived in much worse conditions but the mortality rate was far higher & life span far shorter. ??‍♀️ Your midwife *should* know that correlation does not equal causation, and just because her friend’s son started to show signs of autism after receiving a shot does not mean the shot caused it. I’m honestly shocked & alarmed that a midwife would not only jump to those conclusions, but that she would also share those unfounded conclusions with patients.

Actually my great grandmother lost half her childhood friends because certain vaccines werent available but yea ok great for the rest of humanity

I was vaccinated and so was my husbsnd that being said we decided before our son was born that we would not be vaccinating for various reasons. Since hes been born we have decided on a delayed schedule and to be very picky and choosy about which ones we will decide he gets after thorough research into each vaccine. While pregnant i spoke with my midwife alot about this subject and she told me something ill never forget.....her words were ' had you asked me a year ago if vaccines cause autism i would tell you without a doubt absolutely not' she then continued 'however i now believe they do cause autism as i personnally saw it happen' my midwifes best friends son was a perfectly healthy little boy. He had been vaccinated since birth. He went in for the normal routine vaccinations and she said after a specific one (i cant remember what it was for bit i csn ask) he drastically changed. She said had she not known the kid since birth she wouldnt have belived it. He was diagnosed with autism a short time later and his mother no longer vaccinates.

All that aside my personnal view is the human race survived before vaccines and we lived in much worse conditions. When it comes to our cleanliness and living habits we are much more advanced then we were before vaccines and we have a better understanding of how to treat sicknessess. Id rather allow my child to build their own immunities naturally the way his body was meant to. Thats just my personnal feelings....to each their own :)

I have vaccinated all 5 of my children and they have no issues.

I vaccinate as well, I just don't let them Band-Aid any of my children it makes the swelling awful and red. They do great without it though. My lo just got her two month shots and slept the whole day and had fever but she was still happy. I agree I always stress over the what ifs but at the end im always happy it was done. I think at a young age they need all the protection they can get. Good luck in your decision.

I’m anti-vax. I would talk to the pediatrician about your concerns. If you really want to get shots, have them broken up. You don’t have to get them all at once. My 2YO DD has a horrible reaction to vaccines, as did my 1YO DD, after doing research, we stopped all vaccinations. Our 8 month old DD isn’t vaccinated at all.

I might be the oddball, but I really look forward to vaccination days! It's the only time we all get some decent rest. My girls both sleep a lot afterwards, and I don't find it concerning at all. Before their first shots, the nurse told us what we could expect, and sleepiness was on that list along with irritability and fever. If I'm not feeling well, I also sleep it off. I'm glad they take after me in that aspect. Seriously though, I feel good knowing they're protected against preventable illnesses, and those rare sleepy days are a Godsend!

We vaxed with DS, except flu shot. And tbh, I’m not overly happy that I did it. I would love to say that I’m going to do 102636282 hours of my own research before the next is born and find a cooperative doctor but the reality is I just don’t have time. So we will probably vax them too although I wouldn’t mind a delayed schedule.

It’s REALLY hard to get unbiased true information on vaccines for many reasons, and it sucks.

My son had a pretty scary reaction to his shots too so with my daughter I only did one shot at a time so I could minister her better. I wasn't sure,if,my,son had a reaction because of,all the shots together, a particular shot, or an unrelated bug, so I wanted to take some variables out with,my,daughter.

She has never had any issues

Both my kids are fully vaccinated. The CDChas issued statements that vaccines do not cause Autism, and the person who originally claimed that has since recanted and quit medicine.

Talk out your concerns with your pedi. Fevers and lethargy are very normal reactions to vaccines as the immune system is doing its job of fighting off the foreign invaders and forming antibodies. A delayed vaccine schedule may be a better option.

Nothing wrong with wanting to speak with your doctor over concerns. If he is having a very negative reaction to the vaccines then definitely should opt out if they are bad for his health.

With my kids we vaccinate. Only once; with both kids; did they get a fever and were more tired than usual or even fussy.

Others are right. It won’t cause autism.

Each time my son had his shots done he had reactions. The last set was by far the worse. He would be going down for a nap when it happened twice. It also happened when he was sitting and playing. He was shaking, unresponsive (even at 6 months he responded to his name), could tell eyes were out of focus etc. I don't blame you for your concerns. My son still gets the shakes in which he never had prior to his 6 month shots.

Do all the research you can. Also if you feel you want to wait, ask for the inserts from the package the vaccine comes in. Read the insert (its long but worth it). Look up each ingredient, each side effect and adverse reaction, if you charted each reaction see if the symptoms were similar and also note how long it lasted. Then write down your questions and take them to his pedi at his appointment. You have the right to have properly informed information about any medical treatment your son has. Whatever you decide in the end don't feel any guilt about your decision. Trust me the scare I had watching my son go threw that has made my decision that much easier and that much more secure and my DH is on board with me. When he seen him shaking and then looked at me he knew I wasn't talking out my tushy.

I’m all for vaccines. Pros outweigh the cons by a long shot imo.

How your son reacted to the vaccines is very normal. I usually massage gently on and around the injection site to help with the soreness and swelling. Even a slight rise in temp is quite normal as well.

I agree with pp that they don’t cause autism.

That was on my post about sending your kids to school sick I think:) so in that case I wouldn't necessarily say it's the vaccine doing it so much as whatever condition it is that causes his body to react that way, since vaccines are a dead virus. If his immune system sees that it's a virus it'll react the same way as it would to a live one. That would be a really tough situation but shouldn't really be factored in unless op's child has the same medical condition.

I’m not being rude @diamond, but I think I remember you mentioning on another post that your son gets seizures when he’s sick? Am I thinking of the same person? So your son’s case might be a little different than a child who doesn’t experience seizures. Sounds very stressful though!

I forgot what the shot is called, I’ll have to look at my sons papers but one shot give him seizures. Then the other shots give him high fevers that trigger febrile seizures. I have to keep his temp at 99 or below because if not, the seizures will start to happen.

Sleepiness & irritability are very normal vaccine reactions. My son is fully vaccinated. We do a max of 2 a visit. After each scheduled wellness visit we go back a few weeks later for the remainder of the vaccines that he was supposed to get.

His reactions were normal and healthy though. I'm not sure what country you're in but here it's 2 months, 4 months, 6 months then it stops til a year. You can always chose to get one at a time on a delayed schedule. I only allow 2 pokes per visit because my son gets very swollen at his injection sites. He'll be caught up by his 9 month appt though.

I'm just here to say that vaccines don't cause autism. And even if they did, I would rather have an autistic child than a child that died over a vaccine preventable disease. That is all.

I'm pro-vaccination. I think the alternative (disease) is not worth the risk. Vaccines do not cause autism!! With that being said, if your son truly had a reaction to his last vaccinations then I can see why you're worried. Though the risk is low, some people do have adverse reactions. I still think vaccinations are very important for those that aren't at risk for serious complications (adverse reactions). I can't say if your son is or not. Maybe discuss a delayed schedule with his pediatrician. Then he will only get one shot at a time. Discuss what his reaction was, voice your concerns and see what his pediatrician suggests.
