These lessons can be taught without a monthly "dinner date" and It's not a good lesson to spend the majority of your

Money in entertainment, but rather maybe 10%.... So if this dinner is $30... They should be earning $300 a month in allowance. If that's the case, there's other issues. I think the lessons are good but to take it to so much detail only shows it's not really a good lesson.

Which is exactly what she seems to be modeling... a good candidate for marriage. So she is teaching values, care, thoughtfulness, and responsibility. What harm can come of this years down the road?

The role of a husband is arguably one of the most important one a boy will ever have. To teach a child how to respect and how to date and converse... even how to have fun with a future wife... how is that harmful? To treat the person you have committed your life to, the person he will have children with, with the utmost care is to me not only commendable but important.

ETA: I assume she would do similar things with her daughter.

It's cute to learn to do math and eat out but I don't think it's a good idea to promote these types of gender roles.

I saw this and thought it was a cool idea. Although the girl who said it captioned it with, "Moms of boys, please do this so my daughters don't have to deal with f*** boys" the petty in me wanted to comment back, "Well have your husband do this with your daughters so my son doesn't have to deal with w**** s."

But I didn't ?

Well if they start "dating" at 12....... as per the norm, better start young!

I wasn't saying not to teach your child manners until they're a teen. Just don't teach them dating. It's weird. Why does she have to be on a date with her son to teach him not to be on the phone during meals? That's a daily thing at my house.

Awww, no guys I think this is WAY too sweet. Just like you would have your child help with chores, he is learning to see fun in dating too! If you wait until your child is a teen to teach them any behavior, they aren't going to take to it too well because they have already formed their opinions. I think it's great ?

ETA: many parents don't use toys as a way to occupy their children and use events and teaching tools instead. Events like going out to eat are super fun and in this case a learning experience. Many of these children aren't going to prefer playing alone with toys to an interactive, hands on, fun experience with their mother :D

I prefer to just model this behavior for my child and for his father to do the same. Kids learn what they see. No need to teach him about dating when he's barely old enough to get a library card. To me, this is just proper manners and etiquette and can be taught daily by how you conduct yourself, regardless of gender.

Why is she teaching him how to date at 6? MAYBE when he's a teenager, but this just sounds weird to me. You can teach a child to be respectful without "dating" them.

This reminds me of a post I saw a few months ago where the op said that any boy who wanted to date her daughter would have to take her out on a date first. I think they're both equally ridiculous.

To the people saying "I don't like that the mom makes him spend his money on her"- if you actually SAW the post, she specifies that he WANTS and ASKS to take her out to dinner with HIS money, she never asks or makes him!!

I think this can be done as a family regardless of the child's gender. It is simply called being a role model.

Take your child out to eat and ensure there are no electronics.

Have Dad open the door for Mom and the children and pull out their seats.

If you want to go to the extent of this Mother, then that's great too.

I love this lesson. I would do it with my son. But I wouldn't make him use his money. I would just pay.

I think this is a few years old. Anyway I think the idea behind it is good. Lots of men aren't taught decent manners (for example put your phone away when you're with company). And there are certainly plenty of abusive men out there. Glad this mom is making an effort to teach him some basics of good human behavior and hopefully she'll raise a good man ??

Can't imagine giving a 6 year old enough money to take me out for a nice dinner..... but other than that I like it!

I feel like that's teaching your child outdated gender roles, has an assumption of heterosexuality for your children, and that it's a little weird to force your child to spend his chore money on you (assuming you're not supplying extra cash just for the event). There are easier, and quite frankly, less demanding and creepy, ways to teach your child, that don't rely on outdated gender roles. Not to mention the weirdness of teaching a 6 year old how to be a good partner when they won't be dating within the next decade.

I feel like you can teach your son these things without making him pay for dinner. That seems kind of strange to me. I mean he's 6. I believe you should let kids be kids. Teach them the right way to be, and then maybe practice these things when he's a bit older. Just my opinion.

Oh...And a mom on here get bashed the other day for making her 6 year old throw a diaper away... ?

I think this lesson as a whole is great.

What I don't like is that the mother is having her son take her out and spend the money he earned on her. The money is just going around in a circle between the mother and son. If he's spending it on her willingly, it wouldn't bother me, but it seems like the mother is making him take her out. Other than this, the lesson she's teaching him is great.

I saw this on Facebook before. I think it's a really good idea to teach little boys how to behave and be nice to girls. I'm thinking he might keep his room nice and clean and be good in school and things. I plan on doing something similar with my daughter for her to earn money when she's younger so she know not everything is handed to you. Maybe she can take her papi out for McDonald's or something.

I think that it's a great idea! Although I'm curious how he earns money, but my DH and I plan to do this with our children. He's going to take our daughter out on daddy/daughter dates. I'll take her out for girls day out and if we have a son then we'll go on mommy/ son dates.
