TTC & breastfeeding

I had my son in August of this year. I am EBF and have not yet had a period since DS was born. Prior to conceiving, I was told I had PCOS. We were able to conceive naturally, without any medical intervention. Other than cervical mucous and checking BBT, are there other ways to track when I am ovulating? I was using an app to track my cycles, but not having AF to guide me is throwing me off. I have read that breastfeeding is not a reliable former of BC once baby is sleeping more than 6 hours at night. Ideally, we would like to wait until January or Feb to try for baby #2.

I also ebf and it took 10 months for AF to return, and that's when I was only nursing bub3 times in 24hr. Some people can get pregnant before AF returns but it is rare.

You heard right, ebf is not a reliable birth control. Also I didn't even get af back for 3 months after I stopped part time breastfeeding but my doc suspected I have PCOS as well! I tracked my cycles with an app, but it was hard to tell if I was ovulating or not and my doc had originally ordered a timed blood test to see if/when I was ovulating. Ironically the month I canceled the test was the month I conceived baby #2 so that answered my question! Lol. Maybe you could make an appointment with your doctor and see if he/she could give you some guidance on that? Best of luck!

If your feeding consistently you probably won't have a period until you cut down feeding. My lo is 10 months old and not had a ppaf. When I was bf my other two I cut down feeds when they were 1 and it brought af back! But definitely get some ovulation tests. I still take them every day. But I know I will have to cut down to regain af. X

Are you using OPK as well which detects a surge in LH ( luteinizing hormone) which precedes ovulation?
