Toddler proofing room.

I'm transitioning my daughter to a toddler bed. I'm needing to proof her room now. I'll be putting one of those handle things on her door and all the outlets have covers. I'm going to be taking her dresser out of her room cause I'm paranoid but what do you ladies have rigged up for the baby monitor and nightlight? I know if she sees that there's stuff plugged in she will play with it. She's always had a night light and I won't sleep without her monitor in there. I need to mount them too so I can see her but I need to know how to hide the cord. I'll switch her night light to one that plugs in with a cord versus the little light that plugs directly into the outlet.

My monitors mount on the wall so if I can get those things that might actually be really helpful.

There are devices to hide cords on walls...they kind of look like a half circle to hide the cord in, with screw plates on either side. They are usually used for wall-mounted tvs. You could use that to hide the monitor cords and place the actual monitor on a high wall mounted shelf

We've got a nightlight that connects to the regular light socket, then a regular bulb connects to that. You switch the light on once and get the nightlight, if you switch off and on again quickly you get the light bulb.

Over here most furniture comes with wall fixings, so you can use those to reduce the chance of the furniture toppling onto a climbing child. Our dresser unit is in front of a plug socket, so we've been able to hide the monitor cable behind it.

@bunny I've seen furniture straps around. Are they really secure? Are they difficult to install? It's just me right now and I'm not very good at anything like this.

My plan at this point is to completely remove everything but her bed from her room. We have other rooms so this is doable for us. She has blinds but the cord for the blinds is really short and they are high. A room light dimmer isn't really doable for us. I'm really concerned about her baby monitor and the cords. There's devices that hide that stuff is plugged in but they don't do anything for the cord that would be going up the wall for the monitor.

We put a dimmer on the light switch in my sons rooms so that we don't have to worry about a nightlight and the cord that goes with it.

If there are blinds in the room switch them out for curtains, the cords are dangerous.

Make sure the closet has a childproof latch.

Make sure that toys are out away otherwise they can be very tempting to a child to get out of bed and play when they should be sleeping.

A great piece of advice that I was given is get down on your belly on the floor and army crawl around every bit of the room. Look at what's directly in front of you and look up. This gives a great perspective of what your child is seeing and what could be a hazard or a problem.
