Cleaning motivation.

How do you ladies get your motivation to clean your entire house? I had an injury a few years back that has been causing me severe pain in my wrist and have been keeping everything to a bare minimum. Taking care of my daughter, loading the dishwasher and of course putting garbage away as well as doing whatever laundry is necessary. Its been about a week and my living room is covered in toys and clean clothes and my house overall is not looking it's best and it's driving me crazy. I'm not a messy person. I hate filth. Tomorrow I want to get up bright and early and power through my disaster of a house but have had no motivation to do anything. The pain has been throwing me off. I'm still hurting but it's a lot better.

I haven't started yet! ????

I got up around 930 got some coffee and got my daughter up and now it's noon. I just put her down for a nap so I'm going to power through and do it. I have probably 2 hours before she wakes up. I can do this.

When I was pregnant my house got way out of control. I had tons of problems in my pregancy that made it almost impossible to clean. I could only stand for 10 minutes and then I would get lightheaded and out of breath. My house was way messier than I'd ever like to admit. I nested at about 39 weeks and did as much of it as I could physically handle.

Hoarders can go 2 ways with me. It either makes me sit there and think that my house is really clean and I don't have to worry cause at least it doesn't look like that or it will make me go all crazy and clean everything down to the tiniest little spec of dirt.

Watch an episode of Hoarders. Nothing gets me up and cleaning like that show.

You are obviously motivated.

You're just in pain and of course that makes normal household duties difficult.

I'm 35 weeks pregnant with a 12 month old who doesn't sleep through the night. I don't lack motivation I am just extremely tired. I have my daily chores like dishes, vacuuming, garbage, washing and general tidy up.

I'll do one bigger job a day or every few days or if I'm having a great day and feel very energised I'll get it all done.

It really just depends on how I'm feeling.

I know how you feel though. I can not stand an untidy home it drives me nuts.

Lack of motivation and being in pain are 2 different things.

I hate laziness so I tend to be a motivated person.

If I'm in pain and physically can't, well that's another story.

What really helps kick me in the butt to clean my house is knowing that someone will be coming to my house (I.e friend or relative). I will seriously scrub my house clean if I know someone is going to be visiting even for a day or two lol.

Other than that, just setting small goals of stuff to get done around the house helps.

That's hard if you don't have someone else to motivate you, without my SO I wouldn't care about the mess too much. I find I am much more productive if I turn off the tv. If it's on I'll clean something and then sit down for just a second that turns into 20 minutes. Also a clean bedroom really gets me in cleaning mode. I start in there and then go room by room and tidy everything. Plus a clean bedroom gives you a place to escape for a minute if it gets overwhelming. No advice for the laundry since I usually let it sit for way too long.

Sometimes just getting started is all I need to do to get through it... That and caffeine & upbeat music. It's never as bad as I make it out to be & goes quicker than I think it will.

I have OCD as well and my house in this state is giving me pretty bad anxiety. I think I'm going to set my coffee maker for 7 get up get dressed and blast some music or something. I'll do my living room first or something cause I usually start with small easy tasks and then I'll tackle the rest and swiffer when dd is napping. If I really power through it with little interruption from dd I should have everything aside from laundry and swiffering done by 9 at the latest.

Well. I'm not with my husband anymore so I'm still in a slump from that. I can't bribe my daughter to help me cause she's only 7 months old. I'm amused that there's toys all over my house because the average 7 month old doesn't do much. My daughter walks so 5 minutes after waking up she's got the house destroyed with toys. The clean soothes are my fault. I couldn't bring a tall hamper of clean clothes upstairs because of my injury and left it against a wall in the kitchen but I didn't realize my daughter was tall enough to reach into it. I'm sure it wouldn't take me very long to get done but I've not even had much motivation to get out of bed in the morning until my daughter wakes up around 1030. I am normally up before 8 and my house is normally spotless. With everything that's happened with my husband and my injury I've just kind of lost my touch and I'm kind of hoping somebody is going to throw magical fairy dust at me to help me get through this and get it done. I keep thinking that once its all done I can just relax with my daughter but I'm having a hard time initially starting. I'm the type that once I start a few cleaning tasks as long as I don't stop and sit down I get in a mood and tornado through it all.

My SO works his butt off so I can stay home with all three of our girls so I feel like the house should always be clean. Plus I have OCD, so that alone motivates me. But when I'm extremely tired or just feel crappy, a ridiculously big cup of coffee usually does the trick.

I take it day by day. I have a "chore chart" and I tackle two areas each day (as well as basic dishes, laundry, etc.). That way it's not too overwhelming.

As far as toys, I'm in a mad scramble everyday 30 min. before my hubby's due home to put those suckers away ?. I also bribe my kids to help me ?

Honestly my motivation is my so. He works hard so I can stay home with the kids and I want him to come home to a clean and peaceful space. Also I am able to relax and enjoy my time much better with him when the place is picked up and I'm not looking at toys. I'm with the kids all day, once they go to sleep I need some kid free time without tripping on a toy or seeing crumbs all over the floor.
