Ice cream as bedtime snack

Does anyone else eat ice cream as a bedtime snack? I have been doing this, a skinny cow cone that is 29 g carbs (i was told 20-30 g at bedtime) with a piece of cheese for protein. Dr said it is probably ok, and fasting numbers have been fine. But tonight just out of curiosity i decided to check my blood sugar after an hour and it was 141. Could I have been hurting my baby eating this every night? I feel terrible, I was selfishly looking forward to my bedtime treat every night and didn't think it was a problem because my fasting numbers are in range. I'm really worried now.

Well my fasting numbers have been ok since starting glyburide (almost always under 90) and honestly weren't that bad before....last night was just the first time I checked an hour after my bedtime snack. They only have me checking after meals, not snacks, but I was curious.

Omg I too ate a bowl of ice cream every night before bed. That was a major downfall for me. I think it affected my fasting # b/c now I'm not eating ice cream anymore my fasting #'s have been below 100. Doctor told me these next few days I really need to make count so I've been really watching my sugar intake for baby sake. Which now I wish I would of had a better handle on this throughout the entire pregnancy! !

There isn't any harm in a 140...have you had like 200's?? If you've had highs like that after eating this, then yes, overtime that could harm baby. But I don't see anything wrong. Unless your Dr is recommending a smaller number at 1 hour. I ate ice cream all the time with my first because I did not spike from it. She and I were fine.

Ok,I'll stop eating it every night. It is in my carb limit though and my fasting numbers have been under 90. They told me to have a 20-30 g carb snack. I take glyburide with my bedtime snack also. I'm just worried I've been doing this so long what tge affect on the baby has been. My daytime numbers are good also.

141 is only 1 over (1 hour should be 140 or less) I would check after 2 hours.

For a little bit of comfort sometimes same food gives different readings depending on the babys hormons and your overall state that day such as sleep, stress, hydration. I wouldn't eat ice cream every night as for me I know the hormons matters more than my food. Also if you are on meds and insulin it helps to regulate it. Have ice cream some days and try something else other days and do the occasional testing just to keep in track.

Check the carb of ice cream

You need to get low carb of it.

I sometimes eat Greek frozen yogurt vanilla ice bar (from Costco) it might be less than 15 carb etc
