Weight Nerves

I am 24 weeks 3 days and I have a doctors appointment tomorrow. I'm 5'7" and my starting weight was 200, I lost 3 lbs and was at 197 and at my last appointment I weighed 202. So my total weight gain was 2 lbs at my 20 week appointment. My doctor made me feel really bad about gaining that weight when I had thought I was doing good. Point being, I have my doctors appointment tomorrow and I know that I've gained more (I don't know how much because I don't have a scale) but I'm super nervous she is going to be rude to me about it. I don't know what to do, I seriously feel like I shouldn't have this much anxiety about seeing my doctor.

The volume of blood in your body DOUBLES during pregnancy, your uterus is full of fluid and a heavy placenta and a whole other human which is full of bones, blood, organs, and meconium. Not to mention your breasts swell and fill. You have only gained 2 lbs which means you've still lost weight total. New Dr time.

I gained 40 with my first and gave birth at 210... I think you're fine. I stress out also

That not good. I have a great male doctor who says basically as long as my blood pressure is good and the baby is good it doesn't matter how much I gain. With my first I started at 185...I'm 5'4" and ended at 235. Not sure what I would have done if he was a jerk about it...maybe change doctors or give him a piece of my mind.

What?!? I'm up 20lbs and my ob hasn't said a thing.

How can they be worried about your weight gain when it was only two pounds!!! I'm pretty sure I've gained more than two pounds in my boobs alone...that's insane. I would find a new doctor as well.

If your doctor is rude to you about gaining weight while pregnant, then you should put her in her place. It's kind of inevitable to when you're with child! The baby alone could wind up being 7+ pounds. Don't let her make you feel bad. Is there another dr in the office you could see?

I'd also find a new doctor. I go to a practice where I see multiple doctors/midwives and when one midwife gave me grief about being ONE POUND over my recommended weight gain at my 14 week appt I decided I wouldn't be seeing her again. I have a history of disordered eating and the last thing I need is to feel the urge to revert back to bad habits because one of the four medical professionals I've seen thinks I'm one pound too heavy.

Don't let your doctor make you feel guilty for gaining weight. You need to be gaining. My doctor was so concerned that I wasn't gaining much that he offered to see me after hours if I didn't gain 4-5 pounds in two weeks. Your doctor should never make you feel bad about gaining unless your weight is causing you health issues.

With my first I gained 45 pounds lol this time around I've already gained 20 ?

Try not to worry so much because I am 5'7" starting weight 120 and I'm up 25 lbs by 20 weeks. I'm harder on myself than my doctor is, they just don't want me to be miserable by the end so now I'm trying to eat better and exercising. I'd switch doctor if they make you feel bad about 2 lbs

I gained 80 with my first! I'm 21 weeks and up 20 pounds. A lot of the time though doctors "have" to be more cautious about weight. But I would switch especially if they make you feel uncomfortable. My midwife had 0 problems with how much I gained with my first

I gained 50 with my previous 2. My last doctor said something about how much weight I gained and I remember it really hurt my feelings. So I totally understand how you feel. Just remember that everyone is different and gains weight at a different pace. Good luck!

I gained 25 or so this far. Lol. I'm only 20 weeks.

Change drs, there's no reason to be so freaked about dr visits... Plenty of drs have decent bedside manner, you do not have to put up with that judgemental attitude. Your dr works for you, you have every right to fire an employee that makes you uncomfortable. Do you really want someone like that between your legs while you deliver??

If it makes you feel any better I gained 50lbs with my first
