Repeat C-Section Mom's
I will be having my 4th section. We had been thinking we may want another baby before we're done. My doctor strongly suggested against this indicating that they only recommend 3, at the max 4 sections. I understand this as were not meant to be opened up like this. They're going to check my uterus when I have this baby to see how the scar tissue is.

I'm wondering the same as you. I was told after my third my uterus had a "window" and he suggested to not have anymore children, but I'd love one more. I plan on getting a second opinion because other women have been through the same and went on to have more children.

My friend's obstetrician reportedly cared for a woman who had 12 cesarians and she's fine!

Wow 12 sections, I should relay that to my doctor!!

Anyone else have any thoughts on this subject? Have you been told no more than 3-4 sections max?

My doc says up to 7-8 depending on how u heal after each onr and how was ur last pregnancy etc etc

I've never heard of that but that makes me feel nervous. This will be my 3rd c-section and I definitely want one more baby but I medically can only have c-sections. I'm going to ask my OB at next appointment

I think if you want more you need to find a Dr who is comfortable with doing more. I've had a Dr recommend not many more and another who was more comfortable with doing repeats so I think it's fair to say if it's not something one Dr is comfortable with, I sure am not gonna push them.

I think it depends on the person (at my hospital anyway!)...my sister is having her 4th and they will base whether or not she can have a 5th off of how things look inside when they do c section #4. If it's too thin/too much scar tissue they will tell her she needs to be done, but if everything looks good she can have more!

My Dr's look on it is case by case. At each c section he examines the uterus. He will repair any thin spots, Windows, tears, etc to make it as able as possible to carry another child, if you aren't having your tubes tied.
My previous dr explained it to me like this. No one puts a limit on women who deliver vaginally. But there is just as much of a chance of them having a window on their uterus (windows are not always on the incision they cut. It can be anywhere) their uterus gets stretched just as much more so because they tend to go to 40 weeks at keast, sometimes more. But no one knows because they aren't cut open and you don't see their uterus.

I think it's a person by person, case by case . I have had 6 and am pregnant again. I have scarring but no window or thinning. My friend has had 11 and her last they were really worried that something would go wrong, but everything went fine. You need a doc comfortable and as well you need to be educated on the risks, And decide if they are there in your case ect. This will be my last c/s and am worried about the risks as this was an unplanned pregnancy .

It all depends on your uterus! My doctor was fine when I told her I wanted another one...my 4th.

I'll be discussing the condition of my uterus with my doctor after my csection. This is my 3rd and we may want a fourth baby. My MIL had 4 csections so hopefully we will be in the same situation. Either way I would prefer not to have my tubes tied. Hubby agreed to vasectomy if need be.
