Do you time them from the start of one contraction to the start of the next ? Or do you time from the start of one to the end of one, and then start timing again when the next one starts.. I'm kind of confused.

Yes, the start of one to the start of the next one. That's what I remember from childbirth class.

Start of one to the start of the next one is the frequency. It's what were referring to when we say "4-6 minutes apart." The start of one to the end of the same one is the duration. If they're 5 minutes apart and last a minute long, you only get a 4 minute long break in between them.

From the start of one to the start of the next. So say you have one that starts at 9:50 then the next starts at 9:55 that would be 5 mins apart. :)
