Baby measuring ahead

I tried to bump my original post but for some reason it didn't show up. At my 28 week appointment, baby was measuring at 32 weeks. I had an ultrasound today to check everything out as my midwife said it's probably just the babies position, but he is actually measuring at 31 weeks 6 days and 3.8 lbs! Does this mean they'll change my due date or is it normal for him to measure ahead like that?

At this stage, I'm not sure they will change the due date but as you go along they may begin discussing induction due to size. My baby measured 29 weeks 5 days at 27 weeks 3 days and the doctor just said we would keep an eye on it. I've been to l&d for preterm labor and she still had me at me original due date during that visit. But I think every doctor is different so who knows!

All four of my babies (three past and one now) have all measured ahead. By two weeks, by one week, etc. this one is a week and a half ahead. They have never changed my due date. I asked at my last apt and they said no. Just means the baby is bigger than normal at this stage. Just like a growth spurt. They could measure right on the next time when they slow down. Or you could be delivering a big baby lol but either way the measurements they take at the very beginning and then at the growth (gender) scan are always the most accurate. :)

My baby is measuring ahead too. At this stage babies start growing at different rates. They only go by the early dates because that's when all babies r developing at the same rate. It's not uncommon to measure ahead though. And it doesn't mean baby will come earlier or that you need to be induced early. Measurements can be way wrong sometimes too. I've heard of people being induced because doc thinks baby is 9 pounds and it comes out being only 7 pounds.

Like a lot of people had stated, this late in the game is doubtful. The early ultrasounds are the most accurate when it comes to a dd. Your babies more then likely just went through a growth spurt and can either measure normal in the next few appointments or will be just be a larger baby. Just be aware to ultrasounds are estimated not actual sizes. My daughter was estimated to be 9+ and 20+ inches at a 36 week ultrasound. She came on her dd 6lbs. 11oz. and 19 in. long
