Hep B vaccine at birth?
What are everyone's thoughts on the hep B vaccine at birth? I'm pro vaccine but through my research it seems the only reason to get it this early is if the mom was positive for hep b to help prevent transmission. I've been vaccinated and I'm negative so why can't it wait ?

I am pro vaccination but have declined this for both my girls and will again. My new baby will not be in an at risk situation.

What clarberg said ???

Needles at birth... So ridiculous. Let the poor bubs bond with parents and get accustomed to breathing air and drinking milk before pumping chemicals into its teeny tiny body.

My babe won't be getting it. It's redundant to give at birth if mom is neg.

I won't be getting my daughter the hepb either.

I posted about this on my Decmeber group because I wanted others opinions on it as well, regardless I'm going to do what I think is best for my baby and honestly the Hep B vaccine is not what's best for her. It's not necessary.

I will be declining that vaccine.Transmission is from mom to baby or from exposure to blood/body fluids, so I just don't see the benefit.

It's part of a series anyway, so without the rest of the series, it doesn't matter. If you vaccinate, your baby will get Hep B shortly after birth anyway! I'm not doing it.

My husband and I asked our doctor about it and he said in his opinion there's no reason why an infant should be receiving this vaccine at birth. He delayed it until around age 3 with his children, and we'll likely do the same.

Not getting it at birth, possibly at a check up appointment, haven't decided

Completely unessesary.

I'm not getting it for my son.

It's completely unnecessary an my son will not get it.

I didn't have my daughter get it. And she was a premature at 35wks in Nicu for 2 wks .they ask if you want to. There's no pressure. She got the shot at 2mons.

I'm curious about that shot too. I'm on the fence about it
