Driving music
Alright, ladies. I am about to embark on a cross country journey with my 3 year old, my 2 month old, a puggle and a dear friend who is crazy enough to want to help. We are going to be on the road for 5 days and we are going to need some music to survive. I'm going to be putting together a playlist. No genre is off limits! So, hit me with your driving music and traveling tunes...

My music might not be for you, lol. Otep, Mushroomhead, Eminem.
Renee·
No genre is off limits. I actually like eminem and I think I know otep. Any particular songs?

You're one brave woman. We'd end up listening to kids' songs for my 3 year old! Over and over and over again ?

But seriously, five days???!!!

Lol, dragonlady! We are relocating to California from Pennsylvania. Prior to this morning it was going to be just me with the kids and the dog and then I gained some assistance! It's going to be a great adventure (that's what I keep telling myself, anyway!) but I can't deal with radio Disney for 9+ hours a day. You'll find me rocking on the side of the road somewhere. ?

Under the sea from little Mermaid. I have it on a cd for my daughter and it's my favorite kids song. Lol. It's just so catchy and fun.
Btw, where is ca?

Hey I'm in Cali! Where abouts are you coming?
Maybe some Tupac California Love ? jk that's not real kid appropriate.. I love the Today's Hits station on Pandora. Also Calvin Harris if I'm feeling like dance music.

We are headed to a small town near Palm Springs, my hometown. Then moving to the San Diego area.
Where are you in Cali?

Pink
Two of my new faves are Glass Animals and For the Foxes
Kings of Leon
Anything that you grew up with is great for trips.
If you need something relaxing there's a pianist named ludovico einaudi who I love.
Jose Gonzales is pretty cool but I have no idea what he is actually saying most of the time lol
Renee·
I hadn't thought of pink. Definitely sing along music!
deleted-user·
90's? You can always sing along to 90's tunes!!
Renee·
I'm old, so 90s music is right up my alley.

Silversun pickups are great mellow relaxing "kids are sleeping" kind of music.

That's where we are planning on settling. I took my Philly born and raised husband there 2 years ago and he fell in love with it. It's hard being far from family-I've been in PA for 20 years and all my family is still in California. It will be nice to be near them again.

Dh and I would like nothing more than to move back home. If we only had 1 or 2 kids it would be a possibility. But it's so expensive to live there. With 6 kids to raise we feel that we need to stay where the cost of living is cheaper so they have a better quality of life. Once they're all grown up and out of the house we will definitely be going home. I just hope I have a reason to go back. My parents are up there in age and I can't imagine them still being around when that time comes. Then their memory will be too much to bear. I don't have much of a relationship with the 3 of my siblings that still live there. I guess it all depends on the situation when the time comes. I just want to spend the last few years of my mom and dad's life with them. I've already missed so much. ?
Renee·
Cfran:the expense definitely has been pushing this move back for us, but it became a necessity. The cost of living for our family of 4 is ridiculous-I can totally understand why you guys feel the need to wait to move back. Hopefully, it will work out so you can spend the time you desire with your parents. I was here in PA when my dad passed, and being so far away was so very difficult.
Renee·
Lala: I'll check her out! Thanks!
Purple: that play list sounds awesome.

Oh you'll literally be in my backyard! Except you get far more rain up there than we do down here. Welcome back, neighbor! ?
Renee·
Thanks, Amy!
