Going from IVF to IUI?!?!?!
So I just had a failed IVF cycle and at my post appointment with my dr today he recommended trying to do IUI. What?! Isn't that backwards?! Well it turns out my husband's sperm count and motility have increased significantly. He also explained it's only oral meds with half the visits, & a fraction of the cost. I'm just worried about wasting time on IUI and getting no results. I hear all the time ladies who did 4,5,6 rounds of IUI and ended in BFN. He said IVF obviously has a better success rate, but IUI can be a possibility now. I'm doing one or the other next month! Any ladies have any suggestions or experience??
@rassa...I never took supplements prior, but have started taking Ubiquinol and a prenatal now.
@misscris...I live in Florida and IVF isn't covered. A fresh cycle was around 15k.
Please help I'm doing Ivf well starting the process in two months I read on some vitamins that help before doing Ivf is ut true I been taking iron , vitamin C, Coq10, folic ,vitamin3, omega ,d3 ,oil, b12, b6 and calcium I didn't do a multi vitamin because it contains so much more that my body doesn't require
Thanks for all the info ladies. Dr seems to think it's worth a try and I will try it when my next period comes in November. Ugh...I'm just thrown off. My egg quality isn't great, every IVF I only have gotten 2-3 worthy embryos. My dr explained that the quality won't change whether it's an IUI or IVF. Anyways...trying to keep hope. How do so many people get pregnant on accident?!?
I got my son through iui between IVF I did IVF first cycle fresh bdm then fet straight after bfn then I had 1 embryo left and did a iui and thought try that only did IVF first cause dr said better success rate too. Well first iui ban bfp he is 2. And then I tried Ttc straight after him and nothing first 6 months then did use last embryo bfn and then did 2 iuis bfn then 2nd IVF fet bfn another fet transferedc 2 bfn then had 1 left did IVF again just now and transfers 2 and I'm 3dp5dt and already know it's not worked. I love the women who support me and say its early and u don't know it hasn't worked it's nice but I do know when I am pregnant. Sadly I found out this year I have high Nk cells that attack my embryos. But I got 3 embryos left but thinking iui again too. I say go for iui. ??? pm me any time xxxx
@expecting71415 The reason why I can't do another IUI is because the doctors in Europe are very traditional, outdated. We are a military family and we moved from the States right after my IUI on September. Btw my IUI protocol was with follistim 200iu. And over here in Europe the doctors that I have contacted offer an IUI protocol with clomid and max dose of follistim 150. They don't use protocols with letrozole what I have seen a lot of woman have a success protocol in addition to the injectables.
When I mention letrozole here in Europe the doctor from their faces think that I'm crazy lol. I may suggest in addition to follistim and menopur add a low dose of hcg on my stim to help the egg quality. I have DOR so I'm not expecting anything above than 5 follicles ant the end of the stim. I'm more worry about the quality of the oocytes.
@kariv...sorry for your loss and failed cycles. Why wouldn't you be able to try IUI again? I know every place is different.
Well I did the opposite. I did one IUI on sept 2015 and I got pregnant but miscarriage at 9 weeks. My protocol was with follistim. After that I did two fresh ivf's one on February 2016 and another on May 2016 And they both failed. I would definitely try another IUI if where I'm living the doctors agrees. But it never will happens. So I'm planning to do Ivf #3 hopefully on next month. What ever you chose I wish you good luck !
I've been through 4ivf cycles. Long story short, we ended up with 2 mcs from 2 fresh cycles, the rest bfn's. We did get pregnant between IVF 3 & 4 on our own but lost it at 11 weeks. Our last failed IVF was this past July. Like you, I only end up with 2-3 embies no matter the protocol. Doc suggested we do IUI's now, aggressively for the next 5 months bc we have a booster from the last failed IVF that will make clomid work even better. Your doc is awesome for giving you hope with IUI's right now as it's affordable and have worked. Try it and stay positive. I'm 9 dpiui (post hcg trigger) and I'm trying to stay positive. If it doesn't work this cycle, we move right along to another cycle on clomid. When we did the follicle scan before IUI and trigger, my doc said that it looked better than my scans for IVF. He's optimistic, which makes my dh and I hopeful. We can never do IVF again as we have spent enough money on it to put down a down payment on a home? Good luck and keep me posted please?
