How much milk do you pump?

How much milk do you pump?

I've been strictly baby to breast feeding, she's 2 weeks now. She's gained weight and has plenty wet and dirty diapers. My question is, I recently pumped so I can have her watched one day next week and pumped very little from each breast. I'd say about .5ounces from each. I'm worried I'm not producing enough milk now?!

Yes, I pumped after a feeding. Thank you for your responses! It scared me to see so little. I'll definitely keep at it and I'm checking out that link as well.

Pump isn't an indication of supply. Some women just don't respond well to the pump, especially first time pumping. Did you pump after a feed? Normal output after feeding is 0.5-2oz. See a lactation consultant to make sure your phalanges are the correct size. That can make a huge difference.

That's totally normal your body only makes what baby needs and not much extra. You have nothing to worry about. You will need to pump after you feed her a few times a day to tell you body to make extra then you will start the see an increase also you need to continue to pump for at least 5 mins after the milk stops flowing to tell your body to make more. If you save all the 0.5-1oz you get as well in the freezer then I'm sure by next week you will have enough. It should be 1-1.5oz for every hour your not with her. Remember to keep really well hydrated to help keep your supply up. Good luck :)
