@ice depending on the time of the year and her 'cycle' she only wants me. It's funny because she tries to shoo SO away from me when she's in her mating season. To her SO is her mate. She's a screamer when she's in heat though ?? any sudden movement would set of her screaming.
@mj she's the only bird I've ever had so to me it seems like a large vocabulary ? but yes she mostly likes to play games. Clicking back and forth if we're in a different room. Sliding her beak back and forth on the cage. She says shut up whenever the dogs are barking. Hello when the phone rings or we come come. She makes this 'thanks' kinds of sound when we give her special treats. And just various other things that are silly.
Oh and the funniest thing she says it's bock bock bock becock took forever for her to learn that one ?
Eta she's a harlequin macaw
So cute ??? I had a blue and gold macaw growing up. I’m curious though, I was told by our vet that macaws are not known for having a large vocabulary. (My grandpa bought her to teach her to curse ? and my mother ended up with her after finding that out) My mother’s knows about a handful of actual words and is quite vocal just not anything distinctive, is it because he/she is a different kind? Ours did the laughing thing too, or crying, and would say hello if a phone was ringing, they’re such sweet birds. Just more of a life span than I’m willing to commit to.
She's not something i would've chosen but over the years I've learned to love her and her quirks once i finally started understanding her.
She has quite a vocabulary but mostly enjoys playing games. She also imitates social cues such as laughing when we laugh.
Dd has become very fond of her as well.
She is beautiful?
