I lived in Eau Claire for a year and still go back every month or so to stay with friends. I loved it there. There are so, so many things to do with small kids! Children’s Museum, Indoor Sports Center, jump park, Lily Pad Lab Classes, events through UWEC, awesome parks and trails, a great library with awesome story times and a play area, the Family Resource Center in the mall and a million other things.
I’m currently trying to talk my husband into moving back (we live south of the cities now). I don’t know that I would move there from FL though. The weather will be a total shock to your system!
Lol I've never lived anywhere other than Florida and am worried i won't adjust to the winters ? I've been in snow before but I'm sure it's different than living in it an entire winter.
Eau Claire is great only 90 minutes from the twin cities. It's a small town feel with great resources. My family has a cabin 2 hours north of there you will love it.
I'm from WI! ?? The packers are a huge pro lol. I'm in the northeast. People are friendly and the cost of living isn't bad. The only thing I hate are the winters.

@nyra, I literally was a Floridian who hated the heat and moved to WI for my DH's career also!! Too funny.
We've been here 6 years.
I actually had to change fields when we moved here, but I make way more money than I did in FL.
My mom moved up also and loves it here. Both my mom & my teenage dd have had an easier time making friends here vs FL.
A huge con for me is no Publix!! ??

Good schools
People are very nice & friendly
Lots of local food and beer
Having 4 seasons is nice
Cheap housing
Cons:

Bless your heart, the first winter is the toughest. Force yourself to get out of the house and they are really not that cold.
