Baby's First Time without Mom and Dad

Same as the others. My LO goes down fine for babysitters but I feel better if I know I’ve put him down so we usually put him to bed before we go out. No matter what time we come home, he is none the wiser we’ve been out at all.

I would either put her to bed before you go or come back before bedtime. You could always have your mom try and put her to sleep the night before to see how it goes. If all goes well then you can have reassurance that everything will go fine on date night and won’t have to worry.

My sister always says my niece needs her to sleep too... she does just fine with my mom.

You being gone will feel more traumatizing for you.

It probably won't traumatize her but she'll be in a new place for a bit. Why not just put her to bed before you go out? Her bed time shouldn't be too late since she's 1. We always put our dd to bed before going out. It's boring for my mil but then I can be assured she goes to bed on time.

Try to go to an earlier movie. But if it's that big of an issue it might be something you're going to want to ween her off of.

I was going to suggest the same thing! We schedule date night/movie dates for after our daughter’s bedtime so she doesn’t even know we’re gone.

What time does she go to sleep? When my daughter was younger we would put her to bed and then go out on date nights. It was a boring babysitting job for our parents but my daughter was happier this way. We would also sometimes do an early date night and just put her to bed when we got home. After a couple days around your parents she might be willing to stay up a tiny bit later watching a movie and having special snack. I would never go more than an hour outside of normal bedtime routine as we pay for it the next day with cranky kids. Good luck everyone needs some alone time
