seriously wtf am i doing wrong

Nap time is such a btch! Why is it such a fight to get my baby(11mo) to nap!? I'm beyond frustrated. She's fed, changed, clothed properly, and plenty tired(but not over tied). What gives! Every time she gets ? this close to being asleep she pops right up to play or look around or throw her pacifier then i have to start all over.

My son did the same thing around 1. I've cut his second nap and it's definitely helped. It was a two week long phase and then we hit a better rhythm. I aim for the nap to be around 4-5 hours after waking. He'll nap for 2-3 hours then bed time 4-5 hours after waking from the nap.

Ds was down to 1 nap at noon by that age. He would sleep 2 to 3 hours and then go down for bed around 7:30 or 8.

is it the 2nd nap your having issues with.?

those times are close together.

maybe move the first one up or the second one back

We had to drop our LOs second nap before she was one. She's been napping once a day for awhile, and it works so well for us.

Agreed that 11 months seems young to drop to 1 nap. Usually it's closer to 15-18 months. It *could* be sleep associations (pacifier, bouncing, etc.) interfering.... Is it a dark room? White noise? Do you react when she pops up? Does she think it's a game? Hard to say... it could just be a phase that will go away soon

11 months seems a little early to go to one nap to me. I think we dropped to one nap around 13 months.

I think my son stopped taking two naps around that age. He only takes one nap now at two years old. I dread the day he stops napping all together ?

My son wakes up at 8 am, naps from around 1-3pm. He doesn't go to bed until like 10-11pm though. I tried waking him up earlier or completely taking away his nap so that he goes to bed earlier and it was chaos, so that's where we are at lol.

@stormy what time does your baby nap? I can't imagine not having that extra nap... Let's be honest it's not for her it's for my sanity ?

@boone she takes 2.

Wake up is at 6(give or take)

Nap #1 is supposed to start between 9-10

Nap #2 is supposed to start between 2-3

Over night she goes to bed at 7:30-8 and wakes around 1for water and again around 4-5 for a full feed.

*I give water on the first wake because she stopped actually talking a full feed and the water seems to hold her well until she's ready for a full feed. My goal is one full feed per night and no other wakings.

My almost 6 month old does the exact same thing. This morning after 20min of me standing there and patting him he seemed to be drifting off so I stepped out of his room and a moment later he started screaming. I dread nap time because I never know how he will behave at that nap. Some days he falls asleep quick without complaint but other times he can cry/laugh/try play for an hour ?

My kid has been like this his whole life. I think some kids just aren't good sleepers. ?

How many naps does LO take each day? Does she sleep through the night, or is night bad, too?

We really made an effort to "sleep train" from about 6 months on.. when it was nap time and I knew dd was tired she'll get a bottle then I put her in her crib and leave the room. If she pops up or cries for longer than 3 minutes I go in, give her binky, rub her back and leave again (didn't pick her up). It only took 2-3 times of going back in and she fell asleep on her own.. now at 11 months, she falls asleep on her own without a fuss.

Don't try. Wait for her to show the signs. One thing that I did was lay down with dd when she was ready for nap. Since ds is bf I have to lay down with him and he's out in about 15 min

I can't help you. Just here to say just when you get it figured out they will throw a new curve ball at you ?

Sometimes it's easier and less effort to just put her in the car and drive around. Hehe it's all a phase. These bubs keep changing!

Have you tried just forgoing a nap? My son did that for a little while. He was wiped out by bedtime but he didn't take nap (or took a really short one) for a week or so.

My 2 year old will not nap anymore... She’s fine with no nap, but I’m not.😩 I used the time she was napping to nap myself. I’m so tired all the time, and I feel like I don’t get a break from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to sleep. I try to just get her to watch a show for an hour so I can have a break, but she just climbs all over me the whole time. I’m so annoyed.

Does anyone like their in laws?

Does anyone like their in laws? With all the posts about terrible in laws I was just wondering if anyone actually likes their in laws?!?! I love me in laws. I'm blessed to have such a wonderful immediate and extended family. My mil loves spending time with my boys. She comes over at least once a week and will sleep over. She gets up with the boys in the morning and let's my husband and I sleep in. My fil is a great man also. He's always coming over to visit and do some odd jobs around the house (my husband is not handy at all lol). So anyone else have great in laws?? I figured I'd ask so we can talk positively about our in laws!!!

I love how I repeatedly told my father in law not to let my daughter root through the toy box because she doesn’t want anything out of it anyway and he keeps picking her up and taking her to the toy box no matter how many times I tell her no and tell him she doesn’t even want anything out of there anyway. At first I told him “only let her get one toy” so she picks one up and he is still holding her over the toy box then tries to put her over the baby gate so she can grab more. I’m sorry but you aren’t the one that has to pick up all these toys. You aren’t the one who has to put them back. He never picks up toys. Everyone wants to get the toys out for her out no one ever wants to help me pick them back up. The fact that I said not to let her get anything out of the box more than 5 times really pisses me off. You may be her grandparent but you aren’t her parent. So now I have mass toys to pic up on top of the toys she already had out from this morning
