tell me how you felt when....

You weaned your baby from breastfeeding. Even if it was before the first year was over. When did you wean? Why? And did you have mixed emotions? Please.

I had mixed emotions with my first. He would happily accept a bottle occasionally so I never felt tied down with him. He gradually lost interest in breastfeeding and was fully weaned by 1.

My second was 1.5 and I was so ready to be done. She never accepted a bottle and nursing was her comfort so my life revolved around my boobs day and night. It felt great to be free!

Neither of my kids ever got sick while breastfeeding but started getting the normal childhood illnesses shortly after weaning. I felt so bad every time they got sick!

We are on day 7 of weaning at 14 months old. I was so ready to wean, ds on the other hand wasn't exactly done with his milkies. We went cold turkey last Monday and it doesn't seem to bother him anymore. The biggest perk is he is now sleeping through the night?

I weaned my lo 2 weeks ago hes 16 months old . I feel so relieved and I was so ready but I wanted him to self weaning and he thankfully he did . I do miss it especially when he's hurt and I wanna comfort him or when he's cranky .

I weaned at 15 months and I honestly still feel bad about it. I hated breastfeeding and he was wanting to nurse all night long still, I couldn't take it anymore. But it was his comfort thing and I feel bad for taking it away from him before he was ready.

I weaned him off because he was 2 and a half years old and I think that was enough for my boobs lol they hurt so much already.

I did cry though I was pretty sad but at the end I know I did a good job for going that long.

Relieved but sad at the same time. My plan was for a year only but she wasn't ready to let go. I had to force wean at 17 months when I found out I was preggo again. It was just to painful and I felt like she was sucking the life out of me, I was exhausted in my first trimester. She was still feeding multiple times a day almost using me as a pacifier. But even before then I was over bf, she got to the point where she would pull my shirt down and help herself no matter where we were, the pregnancy was my breaking point. I had to stop cold turkey and it was the best decision ever lol, I do miss the connection though

I started replacing a feeding with one sippy cup of the fortified milk and he LOVED feeding himself. He didn't miss nursing at all. Then I bumped up to two sippy cups a day per doc recommendation and that went well. She never told me to stop breastfeeding, but I was loving the freedom and he was doing so well. I just progressed from there, letting him guide me. If he had seemed stressed I would have slowed down and breastfed longer. I dropped the morning and bedtime feedings last.

My first 11 months it didn't feel right but everyone told me I needed to before 1 year (16 years ago) my 2nd 15 months after a very stressful move. It was time. 3rd was 18 months and I was pregnant with #4. Forth is 8.5 months and still going strong.

@waffles how did you know he was ready

Нравится Ответить

Nope. I was ready, he was ready. He took it really well, there was no acting out and he didn't seem stressed. I took my time with it. I needed to start fortifying pumped milk at 7mos due to weight gain issues and weaned over the next 2mos. By going slowly it was physically easy on me too.

@waffles did you regret weaning early? I'm considering it after her 9m appointment but have many mixed emotions about it

We finished at 9mos. I cried the last time I nursed him. But after that I was like, "I'M FREEEE!" ? It's definitely an emotional milestone. Stop whenever you and LO are ready, and don't let anyone make you feel bad.

I was a little sad and also relieved lol I did it a little after the first birthday when she started yelling "boobie" when she wanted to nurse.

How old were your babies when you started weaning?

michellewiggins1985 @mhs_ the hungrier baby formula seems to be making no difference to the amount my lil man
deleted1737744737373737 @michellewiggins1985 I don't know how it works but it was also making my boy really constipated. Now
ginah They say you shouldn't wean until 17 weeks at the very earliest xx
