Is it on one side or the back of the head is flat? My son had a very flat back of the head at this age. I took him to the pediatrician to be seen about it, and we mentioned it at every well check. They were never concerned, even after admitting it was pretty flat. It definitely got better once he started crawling and rolling on his belly in his sleep. It looks fine now at almost 12 months, a little flat, but perfectly fine.
Now, if the flat spot is on one side, it may be a different issue and I know some babies go for physical therapy for that.
She has one like an inch behind her ear half way up her head. I've never noticed it before. It's definitly not her soft spot. She's never really on her back. She always plays on her tummy so I'm not sure why it formed. She'll be 7mo on the 10th. She's not really sitting up yet. But it seems to have come out of nowhere.
If it's only on one side the issue can be with the neck muscles shortening on one side (torticollis). That would need some intervention.
Even if you're baby is not I their back a lot, your doctor will have good resources for you because they do see flat spots from that a lot. Is definitely discuss it with then.
If it's not all that obvious than you would probably have to be the one to bring it up. I will say that my 9 month olds head isn't completely round and it's normal. Around her ears there are tiny areas that are flatter than others, nothing really too noticeable unless you're looking for it. My first son had a flat spot that was VERY obvious, like people would notice it and ask, it was on the back of his head. His dr was never concerned though just said it would correct itself and it did.

Flat spots...? Is this the 'soft spot' on a baby's skull?

The earlier the intervention with the helmet, the better.

Her pedi never checks for flat spots. Is she supposed to?

OK then i guess I'll wait until her 9m appointment to say anything and see if it fixes itself. Thanks everyone.

If they do anything with a helmet, it has to be done before 12 months.
