CAREER CHOICE HELP

How did you know what you wanted to actually go to college for? I'm having trouble deciding on a career path. I want to go back to school in January but I can't decide on a career. But I don't want to waste anymore time by waiting around for me to figure it out. I want to get started. But I will be started with gen Ed classes at least to get those out of the way, but that time will fly by.

It fell into my lap. Tried going to college a few different times for stuff like writing, art, or zoo keeping. All things i was interested in. Was unemployed looking through craigslist and saw a no experience needed will train veterans. Turned out to be a heavy equipment operator school. I took the plung and loved it! Wanted more to make me more desirable to enployers, asked my school what was the best thing, they recommended welding. I applied at a local college for it and found real passion in that as well. Just got to have this baby so i can finish. Was thinking of going one more step further and get my class a cdl afterward.

I knew I wanted to do something in the medical field so I found some quiz online and it led me to my career now.. pharmacy tech. And it was right! No way could I imagine myself working hands on with people or dealing with patients ?. Not my thang.

I took abnormal psychology in college and was hooked ever since but I've also loved watching and researching crime TV shows about serial killers, killer kids, etc. Now that I only take classes pertaining to my major, school has been a breeze for me. It doesn't feel like I'm doing work because I'm super interested in the topics we discuss. (psych is my major)

I had a film and video class in HS that I took for 3 years (Video 1,2 & 3) and fell in love with capturing video on cameras and editing footage (film/ media is my minor)

Ugh this is also a hard choice for me.

In high school I wanted to be a pharmacist for the $$$$

Then I was like nah I wanna be a teacher, but not enough money. I'd love to be an author, teacher, therapist.

But looks like I might be going with dental assistanting in a trade school.....eventually.

I know I want to be in criminal justice so I will start as a CO and go from there.

In high school i switched my career choice from nursing, to accounting, back to nursing, and now dental hygienist. Weigh your options, take classes that relate to what you're interested in and see how you like it.

Start taking general classes. They go towards almost every degree, since most are prereqs.

Jack McCoy was my spirit animal. Law school doesn't require a specific major so it didn't matter.

If I were to give advice on how to pick, I'd say go to a major fair. See if your school has one. You can talk to all of the deans about what their major offers and they have career services there too to help you.

Once you declare a major your advisor will help you make an academic plan. Consider your interest. Start out big, like medical field. Then start researching careers and degrees. Before you know it you've narrowed it down to surgical tech.

I always enjoyed helping people. I'm a problem solver. Which led me to counseling. I got my BA is psychology. It's an incredibly vague degree at the undergrad level but it is a great foundation for grad school. I'll be finishing my Master's degree soon. Don't stress. It'll come to you.

I actually blew all of my college fund trying to figure out what I wanted to do when I was just out of high school...

9 years later I finally realize what I'd like to study.? I know it's ideal to get your education first, but I needed to experience life a little first.

Maybe sit down with a school counselor? They might be able to help line out a good path for you.

I just feel like I don't know how to put together the classes I'll need in a certain order for whatever career I choose. It all just seems overwhelming.

I originally wanted to do nursing but after taking a social work class I changed my major. Now I'm almost done with my bachelors 6 years later...

I kinda fell into my career (cyber security) so my schooling in business administration had nothing to do with what I ended up doing. If you don't know what you want to do, keep it generic. If you figure it out over the next few months, you can make it very niche if you want.

I'm so worried about wasting my time and having to switch majors. I just want to do this once...

I knew I wanted to do something with biology because I liked that class the most in high school. I didn't know what I actually wanted to do with my degree though. And then once I was in college taking bio classes, I discovered environmental science and that a lot of the required classes were cross-listed, so I didn't have to throw away credits I already took. Once I got further into my college career, it just naturally became more and more clear what I wanted to do.

I know I've posted this before but when your water was leaking did it stay leaking or just with movements or what? Did you get contractions shortly after or no? I rolled out of bed and felt warmth leak out but Idk if it was possibly urine or what...never had it happen. It didn't smell like anything really...I know I should either call l&d or go in but I just want some experiences please. I want to wait a bit just in case it's nothing.
