when pumping
Do you get the same amount each pump session or does it vary? I'm exclusivity pumping and I'm having trouble telling if my supply is going up or not.

I usually get around the same. 5 oz from each breast. But everyone reacts to a pump differently so you can't exactly compare

I get different and that's because I dont drink the same amount of water prior to pumping

A typical woman pumps 2-4 oz to replace a nursing session. Just throwing it out there. That's around what I get too.

When I pumped, I always got oversupply. I'd pump 16-20oz between 2 sessions and my daughter only took 12oz. Roughly the same with my first. I'd freeze and donate the extra.

I usually got 2.5-3 oz. occasionally up to 4

I usually was getting the same amount but it varied between a few Oz. One thing that helped me so much is a journal. I kept a small one and a pen in my madela bag. I put the date at the top. And the time I was pumping. Also wrote down how many Oz I got total for that session. You can even go as far as a daily total as well.
It really helped me notice differences. I had to exclusively pump and it seemed so hard to remember what I was and wasn't getting.

After reading the comments I guess I got an over supply too. If 3-4 is average for a session...I was filling up 2 6oz bottles and would have to just stop pumping.....wow

I'm definitely going to try the journal idea thank you. I'm trying to get back to breastfeeding but if not then I better up my game for pumping...
I get typically 3oz average between both breasts. Buy I really would love an over supply for when I go back to work... That and so I don't have to worry if I have enough for over night. I feel like I'm just barely keeping up with lo feedings.

How old is your LO? I didn't start out pumping much either. About the same
But I made sure I was pumping every 3 hrs round the clock even over night
If my daughter was hungry I was pumping. Even if she wasn't eating i was pumping. It was a lot of work and I did it for about 8 months but so worth it really. Hopefully you'll be able to actually bf. My daughter wouldn't latch no matter what.
I also noticed my supply severely went down after ingot birth control. (Mirena) it made it harder to keep up

She only 1week. We're choosing not to use BC were sticking with abstinence for now. I'm pumping about every 2-3 hours... I'm hoping my supply goes up soon or I'll have to supplement when I go back to work.

Depends on the time of day. Can be anywhere from 4-10 oz.

Oh ya you have plenty of time to up your supply! At a week they are tiny so your body doesn't NEED to make so much so it doesnt. Just keep on with what you are doing. When my daughter was a week old I thought she was gonna die because I couldn't feed her enough! (Obviously over dramatic) by the time I went to work (3 months) I had my entire refrigerator and freezer full. To the point I had to get a mini fridge. And I did nothing special other then not skip a session ever.

I hope so. I'm hoping by two weeks my supply will be really good. My spirits are getting lower and lower every day. Today instead of pumping every 2-2.5 hours I'm going to try and pump every hour during the day and every 2.5 hours at night. Hopefully in a few days I'll have enough to start storing milk for the long run
