physically vulnerable
Anyone else feel like any second someone could hurt you? Ever since being pregnant I have horrible anxiety about someone trying to hurt me. Not feeling like I can protect myself. However its not like I've ever really had an issue with people hurting me so I don't understand why I feel so scared and physically vulnerable all the time. I often don't feel safe but I've never had a reason not to feel safe. Anyone else scared for no reason?

I don't know what to do. Being home alone is even terrifying. I don't ever remember being so afraid of things.

Being pregnant is the most vulnerable time for a woman, more likely to be a victim of crime or abuse. Some one looking to do you harm knows your less likely to fight back to save the baby. I was constantly worried some one would try and cut me open to steal her or someone would go nuts and shoot ppl at work. Sorry im no help, carry and conceal maybe. Nothing sexier when my hubby has his when we are out and about, hes so protective.

I'm more conscious especially since I have night classes that end around 9:30pm. I asked SO to give me pepper spray and a pocket knife just to feel somewhat secure walking to my car at night...

Yes that's exactly what I worry about especially since that crazy woman was said to have cut out that woman's baby from craigslist like a week ago. I seriously thought that was a thing of the past. Sleeping is hard too, constantly waking up for fear someone is there waiting.

I haven't really found myself scared necessarily, but I have found myself being waaaaay more cautious than before. I won't do things or go places that normally I wouldn't even think twice about. I guess I have gotten kind of paranoid about getting hit by another car on the highway and wondering if my baby is still small enough that it would be cushioned and be okay.

I felt the exact same quite early on. I would walk to my car after work and get scared of being attacked. Which is crazy as I live in a village where there is no crime at all :) with me tho that fear has now gone which is good. But I do worry when I walk past people that they may bump into me or elbow me in the stomach.
I really hope you lose that fear like I did as its horrible feeling like that.

I feel way less safe than I ever did maybe because I know I can't defend myself as easy as before I was pregnant

I don't necessarily feel more vulnerable but I'm super jumpy lately and loud sounds make my heart skip a beat. Maybe subconsciously I am more fearful.

It's an adaptive response. You ARE more vulnerable and your brain is processing it by associating it with other times you felt vulnerable before or saw it around you.
It's a normal instinct to protect your baby, I would just suggest to address any past history of abuse / witnessing violence with a counselor. Don't mean going into therapy if you don't need it, just talk to someone over a couple of sessions and make sure there's nothing to worry about :) if no history of abuse then just be aware of your surroundings when you feel like that :)
