Still bloated 3 days after ER?

Hi everyone! I had my Egg retrieval 3 days ago and am still bloated and look like I am 4 months pregnant. I am also constipated (sorry for the TMI). I did have 52 eggs retrieved and all my blood work recently came back fine. I am supposed to have my transfer on Saturday. I was wondering how long it took for the bloating to go away for any other ladies who went through IVF?

Dang 52 eggs! I had 48 retrieved and i almost set a record. The bloating is normal after that many eggs. It happened to me too we even had to cancel my eggs transfer because i was overstimulated.

On the plus side tho if the bloating starts to get worse again about a week after et it can be an early sign that ur pg! Despite being uncomfortable I found it quite useful!

Thanks, poppy! I am still going to go ahead with the transfer tomorrow morning, but my dr. did warn me about the hyper stimulation getting worse if pregnant. She told me to get plenty of rest, drink lots of Gatorade, and eat lots of protein!

Hi wannabema, it does sound a lot like ohss, especially with the number of eggs you have. I had a lot of bloating after my er in nov and was told that's what it was. I drank loads of Gatorade as well and it settled down enough to do my et on day 5. I know they do sometimes tell you to freeze tho bcos it can become worse again if you do become pg. Hope it gets better for you soon, GL!

That's totally normal and will prob take awhile to go down.

Your ovaries go to the size of grapefruits and after collection they have to slowly go back down to walnuts x

Good luck x

Hi Laura! I was asleep for the egg retrieval so didn't remember a thing from it, but the recovery was more than I expected. I had strong menstrual-like cramps, very bloated (looked 4 months pregnant and still do but getting better), very tight stomach, constipation, rib cage and shoulder pain when laying on my right side, and nausea/got sick a few times the day of the ER. But then again, I did have 52 eggs retrieved which is a lot more than most people might. I did wake up each morning progressively getting better. Getting lots of rest helps and I am drinking Gatorade non stop. Hope this helps. Just think it will be well worth it in the end!! Good luck!!:)

Hi ladies, was the egg retrieval itself quite painful? I have heard it can be. Starting my first ivf this summer!

Thank you tcarrie!! I have been drinking tons of Gatorade and have been taking Colace to help with the constipation a little. I am moving around normally, but hoping my bloating and stomach tightness goes away soon! Good luck to you too!!!:)

Hi wannabe. You had a lot of eggs retrieved which means a lot of poking with the follicles. Once the aspirate the follicles for the eggs, the follicles fill up again with fluid. It will take you some time. You may also have some OHSS. Take your Tylenol extra strength and drink lots of Gatorade. As far as the constipation a number of things could be contributing like the iron in the prenatal vits, the hormones especially progesterone. I increased my water intake and lots of roughage.

Hopefully your able to relax. I couldn't stand straight until 4 days after retrieval due to severe OHSS and had to freeze all of my embryos. Sounds like your right on track with your upcoming transfer.

Sending you tons of sticky vibes.
