We gotten a keepsake one and that's the one displayed but in an album, it just has our names and date of marriage in fancy writing. The legal marriage license with personal information is locked away.
Ours is hidden away. 2 copies! One for when I had to change my name for everyyyyyyyyy thing (original) and a backup. I don't know anyone that frames it.
It's in the safety deposit box with birth certificates, ss card, passports etc. that's not something you want to display to every guest that comes to your home. It's privileged information
We have a big corner cabinet in our living room and it is in a frame displayed on a shelf with other wedding keepsakes- our cake knife set, my veil, the corks from the champagne, the cake topper, and a crystal dove set my sil gave us.
Lol well I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thought of displaying theirs.
There's no personal info besides our names and the date we were married. I planned on hanging it with our wedding photos. I'll probably do it in our bedroom because its pretty bare in the there and I am already doing a different collage wall in the living room.
Idk why everyone's making you feel weird lol I framed ours because I thought it was a sweet idea ? no one comes in our room that I wouldn't trust to see our parents last name lol... and if a burglar comes in then we're screwed anyways because he could just take our file box.
It's in our room and I want to surround it with our parents' wedding photos, grandparents, then great grandparents around that ?
I'm from Ohio, I have what you have. It looks like a certificate and you keep that and send another part in. Mine is also in a frame, but not hung up yet.
I keep it in a safety deposit box. I've only needed it once, when our health insurance asked for a copy because *gasp* I did not take my husband's name.
Mine is filed away with other important docs. I did, however, frame my "ketubah" (Jewish marriage contract). It's absolutely stunning and very different from a typical marriage license.
We have the "unofficial, decorative one" it's like an old school looking one that you, your spouse, and the ceremony performer signs at the ceremony. It's just for the heck of it. I didn't do anything with mine. I do however have two shelves with "wedding stuff" on them in my living room. This includes photos in frames that were gifts, a huge "h" (our last name) that everyone Signed at the reception, a copy of our invite, and a shadow box. The shadow box contains our newspaper announcement, notes to each other, a small container of captain morgan( we did the wine and notes ceremony but didn't use wine), and we used the box during the ceremony. If anywhere I guess i would put it in there, but it doesn't fit and wouldn't match. I do have a picture of me leaning over my husbands shoulder holding the fake certificate with my fingers crossed. My photographer thought it was cute.
My bachelors degree is hanging on my wall in my room.... Maybe this is an indication of my values... Lol....
Glad you are having fun with it....op. Just like others have said, mine is in the filing cabinet. The keepsake version and the real one. The only official docs that I'd hang on my wall would be college diplomas in our office. But I didn't even do that.
When we filed for the license they gave us a keepsake one, and at the bottom it had two parts the officiant filled out, one part for his records and the second part we sent in the mail. Then they mailed us our official copy which is used to go change my name etc.
She said the keepsake is useless its just more of memorabilia type thing.
We didn't get a keepsake one. Just the official, need it for paperwork one.
@ice don't feel bad. I've lost mine before, and found them later. That's why we have so many. Luckily, it's just a quick trip to the court house and a $2 fee for a new one (here anyway). I am sure those ladies get sick of seeing me.
I just have mine in our safe with birth certificates and passports. I didn't realize people framed theirs and displayed them either. I don't think I've ever known anyone who has done that. It's a nice idea though!
Maybe its a certificate? Am I using the wrong word? ?
I got the official one in the mail a few days ago, the one you take to the social security office and bmv. That's going in the important files. I'm talking the one they give u when you file for the license and they say its a keepsake.
Mine is sitting in my unmentionables drawer. I have to use it for so much paperwork, if I framed it I'd have to take it out all the time.
If I could frame it like I want, I'd have it in a frame surrounded by pictures of our little family together.
Side note, I hate that I always need it to prove I'm married and who I am because of my changed last name, but DH only needed it once for his jobs insurance.
I haven't thought about it but I think I might. My parents had theirs displayed like a scrapbook page with scrapbook looking stickers and stuff only huge with pictures of their ceremony and a copy of their vows, it was really cute.

deleted-user·
Have a copy in our filing cabinet but I have one to frame for our bedroom. ?
They gave us a certificate for the pastor to fill out which is what we'll frame. Not the legal document.
deleted-user·

We keep all our documents in a locked fire box. Isn't that what your supposed to do?

Mine is filed away with other important docs. I did, however, frame my "ketubah" (Jewish marriage contract). It's absolutely stunning and very different from a typical marriage license.

It's in a folder with other important documents.

Same place as our degree certificates. In the cupboard!
Don't display. But more because I'm too lazy to frame stuff.

Still at the bottom of my purse ?
deleted-user·
I burned mine in a moon lit ritual.
Might have been too powerful considering I only asked for the scales to be set even.
deleted-user·
I didn't. It's in my binder with all of our other legal paperwork.

You are not, I just never knew ?

Our keepsake only has our full names.
The official one has parents names etc.
deleted-user·
It has full name and parent's names I believe but no social.
deleted-user·
Doesn't it have your full names and social security numbers? I wouldn't frame info like that.
But all our stuff is filed with our other important papers.

It just went in the filing cabinet with all the other important papers

deleted-user·
We got a "keepsake" one but we just put everything in our safe

I didn't get a keepsake one, and the real thing is filed away. If I had a keepsake one I still don't think I'd display it.

I have a picture frame that has one of our wedding pictures next to our invitation. But the license is in the filing cabinet.

To be honest I have no idea where it's at... ? but I wouldn't frame it if I did find it. Lol.

OP you mean the one they send you via mail first? Which certificate? I had to give that to my justice of the peace.

I just have mine in our safe with birth certificates and passports. I didn't realize people framed theirs and displayed them either. I don't think I've ever known anyone who has done that. It's a nice idea though!

We didn't. The license isn't the commitment. To me, the ring is the symbol for that.
deleted-user·
I don't display that stuff. It has my maiden name and my mothers maiden.
deleted-user·
It's in my fire proof safe with the birth certificates and passports!

It's in my filing cabinet ?

Uhhh put it in my important documents with birth certificates and such.
Had no idea people framed it.
