Stressing over pacis

My son LOVES the soothie paci. I can't get him off of it. I just got him ortho pacis yesterday and tried them last night and this morning and he won't go to sleep unless I give him the soothie. I was thinking of giving him the ortho ones until after we move and then taking them all away. But now I'm to the point I kind of wanna take them away cold turkey. Has anyone done this?

Nope I was talking to a mom the other days who's husband is a dentist and a paci is way better than their fingers which can be end up being a substitute at this age, and worse comes to worse they need braces like a lot of other kids.

Are you worried about her teeth? We haven't seen his dr for his 12 month check up yet so I'm just stressing out since I don't really have a professionals opinion or good facts on the age range to use the soothie.

The paci is our life line. Its her comfort item she sleeps with and just carries it around just because it make her happy. Me and my husband are not even close to taking it away from her. She also takes a smoothie but it's the Dr.Brown version, I will not travel without it..

One nap time we didn't have her paci (same brand) because somehow in the day we lost two and we were at my mom's, she slept 30 minutes instead of her normal 4 hours (she naps at my mom's twice a week) she screamed for a full hour after her nap and we couldn't get her to calm down, we won't be rushing to take her paci away any time soon.

This is a great artical I found ссылка

At 11 months I took away the binky and never looked back. My daughter was an addict. It took about 3 weeks for her to totally forget about. I wish you the beat of luck. It's not easy and I almost caved a few times but it's in baby's best interest. :)

He used the Gumdrop pacis during the day since they're shaped similar but basically has to have that soothie when sleeping. I'm more worried because he's been teething since 3 months, and he has top teeth. I feel pretty bad about even forgetting to take it away. I wanted to take it away at 3-5 months but the sleep regression was a mess with road trips back home and I remember my mil saying he's too young to take it away. Of course that made me feel bad. Haha So we kept it and I've completely forgotten about it until yesterday.

I'm thinking of taking them away within the next week or two.

Woah! That's definitely not my style. Haha. My dh and I were pretty upset that the nurse came back with our son, with a paci, after testing while I was recovering from having a c section. We tried to take it away many times during that first week or so but it was over. He loved it too much.

Womp! I know it's going to be hard to take it away ? haha

Thanks for the info!

None of my kids ever took them. But I babysat for a woman who literally uses them as her lifeline. It's a huge mistake. I would say cutting to bed and nap or cold turkey either way will be hard but your doing the right thing by trying to take them sooner rather than later. Her first took it till 4 second will after 3 and her third in scared to know how long he will go. I would get her middle child to where it was nap time only and she would pop it in his mouth as soon as she picked him up. His teeth are jacked up and his speech suffered because of it. Good luck. I'm sure it won't be easy.

We are moving at the end of next month. So I'm debating on tossing them now and letting her get used to it before the move, or just waiting till she is used to the new place.

Macey also uses the soothie paci. I only allow it at nap time and need time. That's what I did with my older kids too. And at 1 I take them all and trash them.
