Might be a sales trick to get you to consider a bigger and more expensive car. Were the front seats upright and as far forward as possible and still user friendly for you and hubs? We have a Ford Escape and both our Graco snugride and Britax B-safe infant seats fit rear facing in their snap in bases. We also had our Safety 1st Alpha Omega Convertible seat rear facing for a while too, it was tight but doable.
Dodge and Nissan have pretty affordable cars, SUVs and vans if you are just looking for the least expensive. My SIL got a Dodge Journey and it seemed much roomier then my Ford Escape, plus it was cheaper and had 3rd row seats.
*also before we had an SUV we had a tiny 2-door Ford Escort and our snug ride fit rear facing in a snap in base. Good luck!
For us it didn't fit comfortably because of the front seats. We've accepted it and are moving on to deciding on a small SUV. I think it's between the Jeep Compass or the Mazda CX-5
I have a carseat rear facing in the middle backseat of my Nissan Versa. If it fits there, it will fit that car. I still want to upgrade to a bigger car or minivan or small SUV because there's not much room left for someone to sit in the back with the carseat without being squished next to the door.
I think it was because it was a hatchback. We instantly think it's Bigger but I don't think the backseat is as big as the sedan.
My sister had a 2014 Chevy Cruze (small compact car) and both the infant seat and the convertible seat fit rear facing just fine in both the sides and the middle of the backseat. I can't believe that it wouldn't fit in a larger car. We are both pretty short tho so we don't need the seats very far back.
My husband is pretty upset the salesman would stoop that low just for commission on the car. He said he's gonna make a yelp review lol
Now we're looking into small SUVs; Mazda CX-5, Jeep Patriot, Jeep Compass
Yeah, we tried fitting it. It didn't fit comfortably. I just can't believe he said that!
