Depo Vs. Mirena
Tomorrow morning is my BC appt and I'm scheduled to get Mirena but I've been thinking maybe I should get the Depo. instead.
I just got the 10 year Paragard a hour ago. I didn't feel a thing. It took only 3 minutes. Last night I was on YouTube and the internet and heard ALOT of bad experience about how painful it was. I almost chickened out but I just went thru with it. I couldn't get the pills b/c of my clotting disorder. Condoms irritates me, so I had to just get it over with. They gave me an u/s to make sure it was perfectly in place.
The effects right now, I'm just spotting with mild cramps. No need for any medication like some of the reviews I've read. So far so good for me.
And my 2 month old daughter is with me.
I'm going to try the Mirena for up to 6 months and then determine if I should keep it. Praying it's not painful to insert and I don't cramp and bleed for a long time.
When I had it 4 years ago, I was on my period with heavy cramping so I didn't even feel the insertion because of the pain I was in. But I'm trying to remember to take some pain medicine before my appt. ? Also hoping the Drs/nurses don't mind me bringing my baby because I've got no one to watch him.
I got the depo with my daughter 5 years ago and it worked out pretty well for me. Didn't gain any weight like I wanted to! I stopped getting my shots a year later. The only thing is it took me 3 years after the shot to get pregnant with my now 1 year old son. Still worked out well because I didn't want anymore at the time anyway. Fast forward my baby girl is 6 weeks today and I got depo the day I left the hospital.
Haha sometimes I hate how obsessive I've gotten over researching everything ?
Sounds like it's probably because of it. At least, I think so. I guess I should start pumping lol ugh I would just hate to have bad cramps and a heavy flow when he comes back. We're taking a small vacation July 4th weekend too. Kind of thinking of postponing the appt til after the trip but there will be alcohol involved lol and I know us. Someone's dumb self will think no BC is okay. Haha! Oh man! Yeah I'm definitely going to my appt tomorrow!!! Lol totally just thought about it all.
I was worried about that too. Believe me. I read all these horror stories and did all my research but I still ended up getting the mirena. Most likely you won't be one of those people who experienced the strings getting lost or it getting lost in your uterus. After I got the mirena, I only bled for one day. I don't know if that has to do with me breastfeeding or not.
I'm worried because of all of those Mirena horror stories like, implanted into uterus or strings getting lost.
I'm also concerned how long I'll bleed for. My DH comes back home in 12 days.
I just got the mirena and it didn't hurt at all and I haven't had any cramping so far. You don't have to worry about birth control for 5 years and you can conceive right away after taking it out. Plus you get light periods or no periods at all. With the depo, I've heard you gain weight and it's harder to conceive right away after you are done taking the shot. Then you have to go get the shot every 3 months. I don't know if that matters to you, but just something to keep in mind. My opinion is a little biased though since I have the mirena haha

Getting the Nexplanon put in on Friday, I hope this is the right decision. Super nervous after the Mirena failed
You can get any IUD, as long as your milk supply is established. I don't know about the precautions and it kicks in right away.
