Sleeping on stomach
Hi ladies I'm 14 weeks pregnant and the only way I can sleep is if I'm sleeping on my stomach. I was wondering if it is safe for the baby throughout my whole pregnancy or if there is a certain week I should stop.
I'm 16w5d today and I've just started to get uncomfortable sleeping on my stomach, I've slept on my stomach since I got pregnant and before that I was always a side sleeper. If your comfortable you can sleep on your stomach till you give birth and it won't harm the baby. Some nights I still sleep on my stomach but other night I can feel the pressure in my pelvis and it feels like uncomfortable bloating so I think it'll come to an end by 20 weeks if not sooner.
I would try my best to sleep on my side or back but I would always wake up on my stomach. Was the only way I could sleep but now at 25 weeks I can't do it. It's uncomfortable now. I sleep on my right side. (I've always heard sleeping on your left side was bad for baby) I can't sleep on my back either because I feel like i can't breath. So I put a pillow between my knees... Pillow under my stomach and I sleep like that on my side.
I'm a stomach sleeper too and had the same worry, but you may find as I did (around 15wks from memory), it just becomes uncomfortable and you find yourself just not doing it and finding a more comfortable position.. I didn't think I could sleep in any other position until its more comfortable not to sleep on your stomach.
It's recommended to sleep on left side due to bed oxygen and blood flow to the baby, but sleeping on your belly also isn't bad. Your body will tell you when it becomes uncomfortable. I'm almost 19 weeks and still sleep on my belly from time to time, it's starting to become uncomfortable depending on where my daughter is positioned so I'll prob stop soon, but it's fine. Baby is protected in there. You'll eventually not want to lol.
