Idreamofparis I would just load up in vitamin C for you and your son. I really do not suggest getting the flu shot while pregnant but you are NEVER supposed to get any vaccine if you are sick at all

If you get the one use vials (versus the multi-use vials) there is no mercury.

My OB said to wait until second trimester

I have to get it for work, my doctor suggested to wait until I’m out of the first trimester. So hoping to just slide under the radar at work and have an appt for it when I’m 13 weeks!

I got mine today and baby girl got the first part of hers. I guess they break it up for babies. But we both feel fine. ??‍♀️ I’ve never received it before but just because I never had a little one to worry about. I’m sure I’ll get it every year for me and all my children. In terms of ethyl and methyl mercury both of these are metabolized differently in the body. Methyl takes upwards of 50 days for the dose or amount to be decreased by half (half life) and ethyl takes less than a week for the dose to be decreased by half. Methyl can accumulate in the body and ethyl does not.

I told my OB that I was unsure of getting one - concerned about the safety of it in first tri. She didn’t even argue or fight for it. She said she understood and the research is conflicted. However, I’m not around Little’s as much as you are so it was an easier decision for me to skip it this year. My other kids and husband all got it.

That's my fear! I read up on a little and am horrified but I'm super sick right now (doc thinks pneumonia but they can't x ray my chest) and I've been off work for a week that I'm thinking if it's the flu it would be soooo much worse! And I'm scared of my 2 year old being hospitalized!

I would NEVER get a flu short while pregnant. Why don’t you read the ingredients and risks of getting the flu shot. They haven’t even done extensive testing on giving pregnant women the flu shot.

I had to get the flu shot for work. Never got sick cause of it. I got the flu shot in October and feel great:)

Nope I never do. I'm on pregnancy number 4 and have never had the flu shot while pregnant. I'm not saying dont, because it's your choice. But for me, my 3 kids, and husband, we just don't do the flu shots. Before my pregnancies I always did every year and every time I ended up with THE WORST flu. And since I stopped getting the shot I haven't had it since. Same with my husband. It's just not for us. I'm not against it, but we just dont.

I'm not a fan of Mercury apparently being in there? Good call with waiting until after first trimester! Maybe I should do the same.

I didn’t have a choice because of clinicals with RN school. It didn’t make me feel bad. From what I’ve been told you can still get the flu but it’s much less severe. I get my son the flu shot (he’s 2 1/2) every year because he gets pneumonia so easily and now has asthma. He got the flu last year and it was so mild. I tool him back to the doctor thinking his upper respiratory infection was returning after only being gone a few days and turns out he had the flu. It only lasted a few days and he didn’t even act like he felt bad.

I got mine right away. I go every October to get it. Better safe than sorry! It is possible to get the flu still but it won’t be as severe !

My son is 2 years old and I’m a teacher as well! And I am getting my flu shot this year even though I never do because I got the flu last year and it was AWFUL. My son already got his & while I’m not a huge fan of shots, better safe than sorry.

My OB highly recommends it. I'm waiting til next week when I hit 12 weeks. I'm a pharmacist and I'm around way too many sick people to not at least partially protect myself.

Mine recommended that I get one.
