Drying up milk

Think I'm done breastfeeding. I got mastitis and now am battling thrush and I keep getting clogged ducts. Everyday is agony for me. I'm at crossroads right now and it feels like it's catch 22. Ladies who dried up their milk this far into bfing, how did you safely dry up your milk without getting an infection or having complications? My ob refuses to provide me with any medications.

Peppermint tea. 2 to 3 times a day. And dont pump as much and shorten your time each time when you do. Make sure that's what you really wanna do. I thought it was what I wanted to do and now im trying to relactate and get my supply back.

If it were me I probably wouldn't feed LO milk after taking sudafed. Just to be on the safe side. Let us know how it goes and what all you're doing to dry up successfully.

Texacalim- a pump is not as efficient as a baby for sucking out clogs and when I was pumping and dumping for the week I was on antibiotics, I got multiple clogs. Going full time pumping will make it worse for my body ? and previously I was bfing during the day and pumping at night when I got mastitis.

I ended up finding the sage tea at a health food store. Also, I had gone down to one feeding a day before I did it to try and help.

I do both breastfeed and pump, but more pump than breast because my nipples would get so beat up and I use a shield. But pumping has helped me and my nipples don't bleed like they did before I started to pump. Maybe try EBP? Of course it's your choice.

Eating sage will dry it up. Also I heard benadryl will also.

Ashley- did you still bf? Or were you an exclusive pumper? I'm nervous a bra will constrict milk flow and cause a clog. Ugh! This is hard.

I drank peppermint tea and tried cabbage in the bra but that didn't work. I stopped pumping completely (did what my Dr said) and wore a sports bra 24/7. I was uncomfortable for the first few days but I'm feeling so much better now! It will be a week on Sunday and my boobs are feeling "normal".

Drink sage tea, put cold cabbage in your bra to help with the pain and also I took ibprophen for the pain as well, because it was painful for a few days for me.

I've heard cabbage. I let mind dry up on it's own this far in with my first. I slowly weaned off of pumping and I was fine when it finally dried up. No unbearable pain.

I've read that you can drink sage tea for a few days and that should help dry you up/reduce your milk. Also sudafed is suppose to dry you up also.
