I only do a 29 week anatomy scan. There have been no studies on the effects of ultrasounds used on babies while in utero. Even ACOG warns to use US only when medically necessary. So for high risk that need monitored closely then yes the pros outweigh the potential risk. For a normal pregnancy there is no reason to have a Bunch of ultrasounds done.

I have one every 2 weeks till 1w wks than ob takes over (surrogate rules)

I think ultrasounds are totally safe. Us high risk mamas generally have them at every apt.

I will have 2 maybe 3 :) but only one a doc will be doing. I have a cousin who had three misscarriages so her doctor did an ultrasound every two weeks for the first 6 months and then did one once a week till she had him. No harm what so ever :)

I've only had the one.

My friend had an ultrasound every week for the last 3 months of her pregnancy to monitor the baby. Baby is perfectly healthy and no hearing issues at all.

I've had four ultrasounds in the first twelve weeks

I asked my cousin who is in his 4th year of medical school, top of his class, and has studied thoroughly OB and ultrasound because his wife has been pregnant while in school. He said it's not like an x-Ray or anything that gives off bad pulses or energy, it's completely safe. His sister carried twins almost full term and he said she had countless ultrasounds(routinely normal) and they are now healthy 5 year olds :)

I've had 2 miscarriages in the past so I was working with a specialist and they did one at 6w and one at 8w. I just had my 12w scan, I'll have another (elective) one at 16w to find out gender and one at 20w for anatomy check. So probably will be 5 total. I constantly worry that it's too much but we need to have faith that our doctors wouldn't be doing them if they believed there was a risk. It's so amazing seeing our little angel grow in there too!

I agree. Less interference is preferable but if it's necessary to do it, don't fight it. Thank you ladies, you have put my mind at ease!

I've had four, I'm 13w3d.

All mine were done for other medical reasons and were not to look at baby. Even though they did, I have yet to see or have a pic printed.

My actual ultrasound to see baby is supposed to be at 20w. But my Dr may send me sooner.

So far at weeks: 7, 11, and 13. Have my anatomy ultrasound booked for 17 weeks. Not sure if I'll need any more than that.

I had an ectopic pregnancy last year so we had an early scan this time and at my 10 week visit they couldn't hear the heartbeat via Doppler so we had an abdominal. Doc says I'll probably have 2 more :) so while the jury is out on ultrasounds, they've been used for years - and we all aren't that weird. I wouldn't worry about medically necessary scans.

I've gotten 2 so far I get one more at my 20 weeks appt possibly another one before I'm due to make sure baby is okay

My second had slow growth towards the end so had lots

My third they automatically monitored more had them every 4 weeks after my 20wk scan

I've had 5 already with this baby.

I had one every three weeks with my son for the entire pregnancy. The last month was one to three a week! Almost all of them were less than a minute though.

With my last pregnancy, I had 5 done: early dating scan, NTS, anatomy, elective 3d, and one more at 34 weeks.

I'm 13 weeks with this one and have had one scan so far. I don't expect to have more than 3 this time, but I haven't heard anything about what would be too much.

Not harmful at all. Ultrasound uses sound waves, and has never been proven to cause any damage.

I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy. And I have ended up in the ER and had on and off bleeding with this pregnancy. My dr has done an ultrasound every week since I was 5 weeks. I am now, 11 weeks. He said once I am out of the first trimester he won't have to see me so often. Right now he just wants to make sure the baby is developing and give me a piece of mind with all the bleeding. I don't think he would have me come every week if it were harmful to the baby, since I am already at risk. That's just my thought ☺️

I have had one and will have one more at 20 weeks same with my first pregnancy one at 11 weeks then at 21 weeks. Personally I think the less interference the better.
