I would have flipped in the store that's not okay at all !! That's y my pharmacy asks for date of birth and before you take the medicine they ask you the name of the medicine that you are getting and if you don't know the name ( I.e the dr didn't tell you the name or you forgot ) they will say it and then pull you aside to tell you what it's for and you can confirm it that way but I never leave my DRs office with out knowing what medicine they ordered for me so I know
So after calling walgreens yesterday and explaining that I was given the wrong meds, they acted like it was no big deal and told me "just bring back the other prescription and we'll make sure you get your medication" well of corse I planned on returning the other persons medication so I told them I could be there Wednesday morning as this pharmacy is almost an hour away in my home town because I was visiting my parents Tuesday. That seemed to anger them and they started acting like I did something wrong explaining that the medication I had was a controlled substance and I could get in trouble for even having it. I was just shocked by how it was handled and how rude they were so I offered to return the prescription to my local walgreens but they told me that was unacceptable and they needed the pills backs. I was inconvenienced enough by this already and took them back this morning when I had time. All they did was make an excuse about a prior authorization and our last names being similar they took back the prescription that I had and gave me mine and when I tried to pay for it they said there's no charge your good....now that part seemed really weird to me, it's like they don't want me to have a record of being there or having those meds ( thank god for my BB pics lol) so I decided to keep my mouth shut at the store and called the Walgreens corporate pharmacy office and after talking with about 4 people they said they would be returning my call ASAP. Still waiting Walgreens....very sketchy...
That's crazy. The top one (commonly know as suboxone) is no joke. I've been on it before. (Long story) it has to be introduced to you at the Dr office. Meaning that you stay at the Dr for up to 5 hrs when you take ur first dose. (At least where I live anyway) thank God you noticed it. Definitely go talk to them and figure out how in the world that mix up happened.
I work in a pharmacy. I'm a technician and have been for about 5 years. Mistakes like that are extremely serious. Call or go into the pharmacy and show them. If they don't take you seriously ask for a pharmacy manager. Or district pharmacy manager. You need to speak up because those 2 drugs are not even close to the same. Someone (actually multiple people since more than likely a tech or 2 saw it and a pharmacist) dropped the ball big time and needs to pay attention.
Oh that's beyond fishy! Please let us know what they say I'm following!!!
