Anyone know what this might be? Just appeared on my toddler’s thighs. It wasn’t there 2 hours ago. No new laundry detergent, food, soap, or anything like that. I did think she might be getting sick because she vomited once yesterday and slept in this morning, but has been acting fine otherwise, no fever. The rash is warm to the touch. She’s asleep now so I don’t know if I should take her in or wait until morning?

Thank you everyone for their input. Apparently it is some type of virus and some people develop rashes when fighting them off. Hers have been appearing and disappearing all over her body since last night. They are all raised and warm to the touch. She told me to give her Zyrtec and use hydrocortisone cream, and Motrin/Tylenol if fever develops. If things get worse we’re to take her to the ER.

Have a read of Fifth Disease, or parvovirus. Often a lacey looking rash, but can be solid sunburn type. See if other symptoms ring a bell. It's a very common viral illness seen in childhood if it does sound similar.

Either way, hope lo feel better very soon.

It’s definitely not sunburn. She woke up this morning and the rashes on her thighs were gone, but now it’s all over her cheeks, the lower half of her arms, and one buttcheek outside of her diaper. It’s so strange. Still acting fine but I’m waiting for a callback from her pediatrician’s office to make an appointment for today.

This doesn't look like an allergic reaction to me unless it's a contact allergy. If it's definitely not sunburn it's likely viral.

I do take Benadryl but not too much helps until the virus goes away. My rashes can get extremely painful.

@dinobutt Do you do anything for them? Take Benadryl or use some sort of cream? Are the rashes you get painful? Thanks in advance.

I get rashes like this when I have any type of virus. Mine usually starts on my stomach but eventually go from head to toe.

@Ievygnz Interesting...I’m leaning more towards some viral or bacterial infection as well, due to the fact that she vomited yesterday (for the first time ever), and the fact that she slept for 15 hours last night. I think her little body is fighting something off and this is somehow related? She’s been acting fine otherwise though, her normal cheerful self. I guess I’ll just see what it looks like in the morning, although it’s so hard to not wake her up and check it.

This happens to my daughter from time to time...we haven’t been able to figure out what she’s allergic to...however I’ve noticed it happens when she seems to be fighting off a virus...she was prescribed Zantac together with Benadryl n it worked well

From what I described they said it sounded like hives, and to keep an eye on her. She’s asleep for the night and I’m supposed to just check that she’s breathing normally (she is), and give Benadryl if she wakes up and needs it. She’s in pj’s so I can’t see the majority of her skin to see if it’s spread. Her face and hands look clear (only skin visible). They said if she’s sleeping leave her be, and if things change and I feel like she needs to be taken in, to go ahead.

It kind of looks like an odd sunburn.. I’d call the dr. Do you have a health line you can call? They’ll likely say if her symptoms change in the next 24 hours take her to the dr.

is it wrong to be frustrated that my daughter acts like she can't do certain things with out my help. she plays dumb a lot and I wish I could be like no girl show what you know. she acts like she can't trace or match shapes so shes ask for "mommy finger" to help her so I barely hold her hand and she magically can do it but if I dont hold her hand she just scribbles and acts like she doesnt know the pic is how she traces when I'm "helping her" otherwise it'll just be scribbles all over the page
