Tell me I'm being silly!

Tell me I'm being silly!

Last night at a family party my 50 year old uncle was holding my 5 1/2 month old daughter who we think is teething. He gave her one of those frozen microwaveable pretzels to chew on without my knowledge. The issue is, we were not planning on giving her any food until 6 months. I'm kind of upset that her first food was some stupid overprocessed frozen thing that I didn't even get to give her myself, although she didn't eat any of it, just gummed it for about 5 minutes. There was no salt on it at least. I am trying to tell myself it doesn't count as her first food and to not be upset. What do you mamas think? I know he had only good intentions. ?

We gave DD1 a frozen Eggo to gum. It wasn't her first food since she didn't consume it.

My son's first food was a cheerio he found on the floor.

Yeah don't worry about it. I actually used a frozen pretzel as a teething stick at my parents house because it was the only thing I could find. No joke!

She didn't ingest so there's no contest.

Thanks ladies, that makes me feel better. I'll try thinking of it as a teething stick! And there are no more family gatherings before she turns 6 months so at least we're safe there. I just worry a lot and didn't know if I was making myself anxious for no reason.

It doesn't have to count as her first food. Your baby will be eating lots and lots of food in the years to come and you will be able to feed her numerous and numerous times.

If she didn't eat any of it than I'd say it wasn't her first food. I know a lot of people give their babies frozen waffles etc until they get mushy than they just throw them away.

Maybe just let him know in the future you would rather he ask for a teether and not use frozen food.

I'd say yeh and no. I get why you would be upset but a frozen pretzel would have been nice on her little gums when teething. Obviously not the best choice but as you said it was done with good intentions.

As pp said maybe just think of it as a teething stick for now. She didn't eat it so you still get to experience her first time with real food. Maybe let the family know that you don't want her having those sort of things in the future though.

I'd be ticked! I never let my dd out of my sight for this very reason. He definitely over stepped his bounds. He should've asked before giving your LO anything.

Try thinking of it as a teething stick and not food?

I'd be upset but at least you know he wasn't being malicious.

I just absolutely love some women on here! Some woman wants to write on another women's post telling her she shouldn't be having sex at all in the beginning of pregnancy. I didn't know she was her doctor. Then she wants to tell me that the first trimester is only 1-9 weeks pregnant. And she lost her baby at 4 weeks pregnant due to sex. Like sweetie that's your period starting!

Will your Mom be in the delivery room?

Will your Mom be in the delivery room? My mom made it sound like she was gonna be in the delivery room when I give birth, and quite frankly, I would just like it to be me and my fiancé. It's our first, and I want to share that special moment with just him. I don't want to hurt her feelings, and I know this is something she would really like to be a part of. So I feel bad telling her no.
