I've created a problem ??‍♀️

I breastfeed my son and I've always gotten him to sleep this way but lately (the past couple months) he will wake up tossing and turning and sometimes crying literally has to suck on me for a few and goes back to sleep. But he's starting to do it a lot and I don't know what else to do or how else to get him back to sleep. We still co sleep and he's been doing it more often thru the night and it's getting kind of out of hand. I think I'm gonna start trying to use a pacifier again. I really don't know what else to try.

Sounds like maybe it’s time to transition baby to the crib. I don’t think baby needs more food or belly full. Like you said he’ll only latch for a short time to go back to sleep...not really needing to eat. Sounds like just pacifying. Baby needs to learn how to self soothe. Some gentle sleep training/schedule training or even some CIO may help.

This was me around Christmas time. DD co slept which was fine and nice bonding, but got to the point she would wake up 6 times a night on average and only settle with boob and even that started failing.

So we started a gentle sleep training schedule and now she sleeps in her cot and sometimes sleeps right through. Turns out having her next to me meant I would settle her as soon as she stirred and she wasn’t learning how to self settle and I think she sleeps better alone now, despite not long ago would scream if we tried to get her to sleep in her cot.

If you have Instagram and wanna check out the sleep consultant we used her name is the midwife mama or sleep school ?

Try giving him something a little more filling before bed like baby cereal maybe, my son was the same way and i realized that it was because he wasn’t “full” enough from just me breastfeeding him, so he would wake up, ones I started giving him something more he was fine :) so maybe try that to see if that works :)
