Upset baby

So the past week my baby has been extremely fussy/ upset. I came to the conclusion he has reflux because he shows all the signs. But I also think something is bothering him with his stomach. He grunts very often, try's clearing his throat, sometimes fusses when he spits up like he's in pain, but he also has had really bad gas, he will get all red and tensed up to the point where he is standing up on me, he will be completely fine smiling then within the next second he will scream/ cry like he's in pain. Out of no where. I know something is bothering him. We went to the dr on Friday and I'm not satisfied with the visit. She said he prob has reflux and to change my diet because he's breast fed, no caffeine, dairy or spicy foods, hold him up for 15-30 after eating before laying him down, and take him off the breast when my let down occurs because it could to much for him to handle and be causing him to swallow air. She said she doesn't want to give medicine right away so to try those things and at his 2 month apt see if any things improved. But that apt isn't until another whole month. I can't sit here for 4 more weeks watching my baby in pain like this. He wakes up crying everytime now, he's just not the same as he was a week ago. I know something is hurting him. I just wish she would have looked into it a little more. Something seems wrong with his stomach. I might just make another apt sometime this week if it keeps up. I just don't know what to do at this point. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?

I use Mylicon drops and also Gerber Soothe probiotic drops. It seems to really help. The only time he's really fussy is when he is lying flat on his back. He currently sleeps in his rnp per his pediatrician. He passes a ton of gas though and it seems to be after waking so burping really good after eating is a must.

I kept going to the dr until she finally gave in. The gas drops will calm him down for a bit then he starts again with the fussiness. Really hoping the gripe water works.

@julielove I agree. It's not normal and it's hard to sit and watch your baby in pain and not being able to do anything about it. The dr wanted me to wait till next month to see if the sitting up longer after eating and burping and changing my diet helps but I don't think I can wait that long seeing him like this all the time. I have the original and night time mommys bliss gripe water. Hopefully it helps your little one, it's definitely helping mine! I wanted to try the gas drops too but I haven't gotten them yet. How are they working for you?

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I told the dr I wanted to see specialist because I don't think the crying all day and night is normal. He sleeps only because he so tired of the crying. Now I'm waiting for referral.

I have not tried gripe water only the gas drops. I will go to the store today and get gripe water. My son also gets constipated and struggles to poop.? I been giving him prune juice and it helps a little but eventually he spits up the juice because its thin.

@julielove that's exactly what my dr told me to do, my baby is also way fussier lately and looks in pain through out the day. The last few days he's been only having one poop a day but it's like explosive, like blowout type poops and super watery and smelly. Have you tried gripe water? It's been helping him a lot be less fussy!

My son has acid reflux and gets alot of gas. He's 3months old & is formula fed taking a.r enfamil for spit up. The Dr hasn't done anything bout it. All she said was he has to sit up after he eats for 30min and to burp him as often as we can. He is a very fussy baby, he's always crying and looks in pain. If you find a solution to your situation please share.

This is my baby to a T this past week. We had our appt Friday and the dr gave us gas drops and a sensitive formula to try. She still has had some gas and same symptoms though so not sure if it's helping. I think she's also constipated because she hasn't had a dirty diaper in a few days and she gets super red faced and seems like she is trying to go. She grunts and clears her throat and is fine one minute and then in a ton of pain kicking her legs and bringing them in to her the next. I feel so bad and I just hope the drops work. I bought some gripe water today to try if what the dr gave me doesn't help.

My boy has reflux & I give him a thicker milk. I suppose you can't do that as yours is breastfed. I also give him infacol for wind as he farts & then cries every time. It's definitely helping but unfortunately there isn't much you can do? it's horrible seeing them in pain

How are his poos? Both my babies have had milk soy protein allergy/intolerance. Soy is literally in everything. If he has mucous diapers it could be that. Fairly common.crappy to deal with

@emc3 he has a pretty good latch. I'm not sure what the problem is. The dr said to take him off during my let down because it could be to forceful for him causing him to swallow air. I'll ask her next time about a lip/ tongue tie tho because you never know. I don't know what either of those look like so I wouldn't know lol he definitely has tons of gas this past week tho.

Is it possible he has some latch issues? Just curious because I discovered that my daughter has an upper lip tie with possible posterior tongue tie (waiting to be clipped on Friday) and she presents the same way. Her gas (burps and toots) and discomfort from sucking too much air and lack of flow control have her very very crabby.

Trust your gut. Mommy instincts are usually correct.

@bensmomma I totally agree! He hasn't been spitting up as much the last few days but he's constantly grunting and trying to clear his throat and coughing more than usual. I don't want to have to give him medicine but I can't keep seeing him in pain so I guess it would be worth it. I don't think it's my diet either honestly. I also read that if he had a problem with the dairy his poop would be green and it's not, and never has been. But it's definitely not normal or okay for him to scream out in pain multiple times a day. It makes me feel so bad because I can't help him. I tried gripe water the last 3 days and it has helped some! So I'm glad for that. I just hope he feels better soon. I'm glad you found a solution for Ben because I know how much it sucks!
