I cant believe how fast time has gone its been a week since my little one has been born. Anyone else only nursing? If so how is it going? I feel like the cluster feedings at night have been challenging.

My lo will be 3 weeks on Thursday and we've had a rough start with it as well. She started cluster feeding from 12 am till 5-6 am and wed haave to be up at 7 am to get the older kids ready and off to school. That started the day after we got home and it just settled down the last 4 days and she finally sleeps 4-5 hrs a night. What I found to help is taking her outside at sunset for 20-30 min to get the last sun rays of the day and some fresh air along with keeping the blinds open throughout the day and that same night was the first time she slept through the night. Her pediatrician said not to wake her during the day cause it makes babies extra cranky through the night and since sun exposure promotes melatonin and melatonin is responsible for establishing sleep/awake cycles it's a more natural way of establishing day and nights and quickly fixed the mix up for us so far. As far breastfeeding we are going exclusively, by the time I got home from the hospital I had minor abrasions and looked like hickeys on my nipples that turned black and scabbed the first week, they never actually bled but it got unbelievably painful and the lanolin cream from Medela was a life saver. After the first week I started pumping once every morning and I noticed the pump was helping to pull my nipples outward a little more and it helped her to latch on correctly which allowed them to heal quickly and now breastfeeding is painless. She wasn't latching quite right so she wasn't pulling enough areola in and was chomping my nipples and they would be creased when she was done so the pumping really helped by pulling them out so she can get a deep enough latch. Now my only problem is overactive letdown (milk coming out too fast) so that's a work in progress. I'm still exhausted to say the least but the last few days have been much easier compared to the past 2 weeks. I just want to say hang in there ladies, it does get easier and eat lots of protein throughout the day, it helps keep your energy up and try to sleep as much as possible, even 20 min cat naps go a long way. Gl to all of us and keep up the good work, bf is a tough job.

Ehh its so nice talking with others going through this. Im sorry to hear that ur going through the same thing:( my little one is just getting up every 45 min in the middle of the night and we had gotten the dock a tot and will sleep on that if hes knocked out than up again like clock works. I wonder if r little ones just have there schedule turned around. And thank you! And i wonder if i breastfeed if that will help with the nursing at night

I'm only nursing also. What I did after I was hurting I started pumping for 2 days straight and applying the nipple cream and it healed my breast. I just needed a lil break from the pain. You can do this don't give up

My girl is 2 weeks old and I'm dealing with the same thing. It's so draining because SO can't help since I'm exclusively breastfeeding. She's been up till 3 every night for a few days now.
