It is lip tie, my son (now 3) had it when he was a baby, I couldn't bf because of it and the midwife told me that unless it effects there feeding then they just leave it because no dought they will fall and sort it themselves, and that's what my lb did, when he started walking he feel and went down straight on his face and sure enough it had snapped but there was soooooo much blood! I panicked and literally ran him to the Drs I burst in the waiting room with him in my arms and blood all over, I was like a crazy woman crying, him crying but I didn't know then that it had snapped haha xx

My little boy is tongue tied i never found that out til he was like a week old and i struggled to breastfeed they never mentioed sorting his tongue tie tho but i had him at the docs few months ago and she said they dont correct them now unless it affects speech so now i have to wait til he can talk before they decide to fix it x

It's a lip tie they don't check for lip or tongue ties here which I think they should before they discharge my little girl finally had her tounge tie cut at 8 months old after a lot of me pushing they were trying to tell me the reason we had issues bf was because she was a small baby so couldn't latch properly.... At the appointment I pointed out her lip tie and the doctor said they leave them as there's no evidence of them affecting speech etc hers was really bad her teeth grow apart but when she was about 18 months she fell at the park and knocked her mouth and it split the tie and now 6 months later her teeth have corrected themselves

It's normal.

They won't do anything for lip tie. More often than not the baby will fall when they learn to walk and snap it themselves - that's what my son did! X

My little on had this he will be 2 next month doc wouldn't do anything about it as it wasn't causing him any trouble he fell with his dummy in and split it and now it's healed and normal x

My eldest has this, she also one either side of her cheeks to her gums. She caught it with toothbrush once and it bled quite badly. Dentist had a look and said it was fine and quite common. They said, if for any reason it needs 'snipping' it wouldn't be until she's older (she's 6). Hope that helps. :)

That looks like my 20mth old sons top lip, surely that's normal? Never had no problems with feeding or language. Never even heard of a "Lip tie" ....

I might get Amelias checked now lol hers is right through her teeth xx

Pretty sure everyone has that bit of skin lol I just checked and I do..ha I was tongue tied as a baby so I haven't got that bit of skin under your tongue x

Yeah I'd ring your doctor. I'm pretty sure they have to fix it my friend had a baby not long ago she was born with lip tie and had to have it snipped xx

That explains bf issues still after her having her tongue tie snipped! My midwife friend just said to me that they don't check for that but she thinks they deffo should! I agree with her Isabella has had this a whole 13 months and I've only just picked it up! Do I need to do anything? X
