How does it work???
Hi, all! With my last baby I moved to Ireland when I was 28weeks so missed out on the normal "process" of antenatal care. I just got my BFP on a home test so what do I do now? Confirm with GP and then what???

You confirm it with the GP and they will usually ask you which hospital you would like to go with. You then wait until the 12/13th week where the hospital will call you in for the first scan . After that the hospital will then give you date of your next appointment, weather that will be with them or if you choose to go with midwife ( if available ) . I can’t remember if the GP asks or the hospital about private or public care .
The check ups are mixed between the Hospital and your Gp.
Hope that helps !

Exactly as Lara said. :-) Confirm with your GP and they will tell you what happens next. I had to Finn out some forms with them and the got a letter and a call for my scan and first hospital appointment (12w5d). I then got the choice of doing hospital visits or going to my local midwife clinic. I chose the clinic so that I'd be seeing the same midwife every time (which I had to request to make sure it happened) and from there to 40 weeks my appointments were silt between my GP and my midwife. :-)
Congratulations and good luck! :-)

Thanks, ladies! Could anyone recommend a good GP in the City Centre area? I'm next to Trinity University. Last time my DH just took me to his GP in Tipperary...
