Any flight attendants on here?

Any flight attendants on here?

Hello, fellow sky goddesses! I'm on maternity from my airline until August. I'm ebf until then but want to continue pumping once I'm back at work. How do you manage it? I have two hand pumps. Do you recommend getting an electric one? When/where do you pump on the plane? I'm figuring I can get my sessions in during ground time or in the lav... Any tips? Thanks!

Yes, baby will have her own seat most likely.... I was thinking of upgrading to first class since it would be far more comfortable to hubby, who is rather tall, but lo's safety matters more... And the car seats are SO much more expensive where I'm going....

All airlines (to my knowledge) allow you to gate check strollers. To be sure you can always call up the airline you are flying to ask. You can bring whatever stroller suits you. It doesn't need to be a folding umbrella style one. A click connect is fine! And probably easiest to use! That's what I've seen most people travel with and I usually fly the lead position (the flight attendant who greets passengers as they board) so I've answered and encountered all sorts of stroller and car seat issues.

Re. Your question about your car seat: is your baby traveling on your lap for free or did you purchase a separate seat for the baby? If you purchased a seat then definitely bring your car seat on board for baby to sit in. That's the safest way for baby to fly. If you didn't purchase a seat to put your car seat in you will have to gate check the seat. However, you should ask the airline on the day if there are any available unoccupied seats. If there are unsold seats some airlines let you take your car seat on board even if you didn't purchase a ticket for the baby to sit in a seat.

Baby wearing is a great idea as it frees up your arms if you have to bring things on the plane and you need your hands. Just know that during take off and landing a baby has to be removed from any slings or wraps and held in your arms or put into a car seat for safety reasons (if there was a crash and you were immobilized you don't want baby strapped to your body. Baby needs to be free so someone else can evacuate the baby to safety). You can however wear baby during the cruise portion of flight.

@sky thank you for responding.... I'm curious if it's all airlines that do it now.....I remember back in the day when I was little, they used to bring it up at the terminal ... But nowadays, I haven't seen them do that....and to make sure I'm not crazy, I even went online..most people say they get it all at the baggage carousel...

I'd love to take a click connect stroller with my click connect infant car seat, but there is now way possible that I can carry that thing through an airport, I barely managed to carry it to my car!

What do you recommend being the best thing for traveling? Wear baby onto plane so the car seat isn't so heavy to install? I was told to bring the car seat for my lo if I could, since it's such a long flight to have her sleep in it... (9 hour flight)

Sure! All strollers and car seats can be gate checked! Gate checked means that you take those items with you through security and into the airport (since they are personal assistive devices they don't count toward your carry on allowance, you can take still take your carry on luggage and one item like a purse or diaper bag PLUS your stroller and car seat). Just before you get on the plane an airline worker will tag and take the stroller down to the cargo bin. When you land they'll bring it right back up to you in the jetway so you can use it immediately when you land at your destination. If you have any stops where you are scheduled to change planes make sure it's tagged to be brought up at each jetway for you to use between flights!

Can I hijack your thread to ask a question of the flight attendants please?

Do you allow the passengers to bring the small collapsible stroller as a carry-on? I'm looking for a small one and will take a car seat, but won't manage to lug it through the airport without the stroller...

Thank you!!!!!

Thanks! That sounds like a good idea, using a single and a manual.

My sister had a single electric and manual pump. She would pump in the lav during long or medium haul flights. Plan to do the same

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

My doctor also recommended me getting the flu shot while pregnant ? I'm not sure if I want to or if i should ? It's all scary to me !! What do you ladies think ? Did you get the flu shot while pregnant ? Are there any risks? Or should I wait ? I'm so scared of taking anything while pregnant , much less getting this shot.. He said it isn't mandatory , just recommended.

Breast pump covered by insurance

Breast pump covered by insurance I've already done what I needed to find out what type of pump I get covered through insurance. It turns out, with my insurance, I can't even get my pump shipped to me until I call them with all the birth details of my baby. So...wth am I supposed to do having a baby and no pump?! I plan to pump exclusively and this REALLY throws a wrench in my plans.
