My son is 4 weeks old and I'm exclusively breastfeeding. I'm on maternity leave for seven months so I won't need a stash until August. I'm a flight attendant so when I do go back to work I'll be away from my little one for a week at a time. When do I need to start pumping to build up a good stash? Will my milk supply increase even 7 months from now?

Start pumping after 6 weeks just once a day after morning feed. That way you don't have a ton of milk. But you might want to see about a chest freezer for the best way to freeze. Also make sure baby gets one bottle a day so that he will take one.

You don't want the milk to be in the freezer for more than 3 months in a regular freezer or 6 months in a deep freezer so you should probably wait a little. Maybe start pumping when baby is 3 months old and only pump once a day to prevent an oversupply.

I fly for a living too and already started putting milk away. Have you introduced a bottle to baby yet?

I have introduced a bottle. He took to it just fine!

Milk actually lasts 6 months in the regular freezer and a year in the deep freeze
