Leslie- Don't be worried! Everyone's body handles things differently. I did read that it can make your cycles worse before they got better. I ovulated CD12 but then I bled for my entire luteal phase ? Had bloods done at CD21 which confirmed I O'd and my progesterone levels were normal. Was very unusual. I track my bbt and it was very erratic and lower than normal. This is my 7th cycle off the BC pill and I am still having some spotting here and there so thought I'd try maca to help balance my hormones. I'm 4dpo and no spotting yet so I think Vitex agrees with me better!
@ashleigh what exactly did the maca do to your cycle? You have me a little worried now ? I'm on day two of both Vitex and maca... also good to note that the prenatals that I recently switched to (been taking for a couple weeks now) have red raspberry leaf extract in them.
Thanks so much ladies for sharing your experiences, great info! I will post updates here to let you know how it goes...
Emily_ & Kwiegs, I wonder if that's what is happening with me now. I just recently (last few cycles) started spotting a couple days before AF. I'm on CD 10 now, so we can definitely be buddies!! ?
I really like Vitex. When I take Vitex what it does for me is, regulate my cycle and improve mood. I feel more "normal" and content.
I stop taking them the day before or during my cycle because I find I get the opposite during that time-they make me irratable....whereas normally I am not (on my period).
Luteal phase is the time after ovulation. I read that it needs to be at least 10 days. I was discovering I was ovulating CD 16-17and starting my period cycle day 24-25 with spotting as well. Definitely not enough for the fertilized egg to implant. After 4 months the spotting has almost totally stopped. I used to spot just a little for over 3 days before an actual flow would start. And my luteal phase is beginning to lengthen finally. Hoping this will be my month! I'm on cycle day 7 if anyone wants to buddy up! Good luck to everyone!
Longer Luteal phase basically means the fertilized egg has a longer time to implant. A fertilized egg usually implants on average 9 days after ovulation and needs around 48 hours to build up enough hormone to tell your body not to have a period. Because the Luteal phase is the time between ovulation and your period having a luteal phase shorter than 10 days can prevent you becoming pregnant as the egg doesn't get enough time to properly implant and is then basically disposed of by your period. A luteal phase of 14 days is the ideal. Mine is 10 days and I am hoping vitex helps lengthen it by a day or two!
@kwiegs
Yes please please explain the longer luteal phase.
Good luck to you all. This is my 3rd cycle ttc. I am trying to up my chances this cycle so with the vitex I am also thinking about trying maca root, eating tons of kiwi and will eat a pineapple core after ovulation. Fx!!
I have been taking vitex for 4 months now and my luteal phase has begun to lengthen! I went from 6-7 days to 10 this last cycle. I take it every day of my cycle with no stop. It needs to time to build up in your system. I also started B6 with it as well. I am on cycle day 6 and finally feel like I have a chance this cycle! Good luck!
I started taking them as soon as I got them and started my period like a week after I started taking them. I was supposed to start my period that week so it didn't mess with my cycle starting when I did. If u read up on the vitamin it says it's slow acting so it may take a couple months for it to do anything to your body.
Thanks for commenting ladies! Another question I'm on CD 9, do you think it's okay to start taking it now. Or do you have to take it the first day of your period?
I love this product ?
It helped me get a bfp last year. I'm currently on my 6th clomid cycle and if no bfp, I'm going back to taking these ??
I have regular cycles too and ovulate normally but I took it to keep my hormones balanced and I did get better progesterone levels while on it ?
@leslie - do you know what cycle day you are ovulating? The vitex and B6 I think has really helped the my spotting first then my luteal phase started to lengthen. this is the article I first read about B6 supplements also.ссылка It was an easy decision for me to add the B6 just incase because it's beneficial to your system anyway! Keep me posted!
