Happy {Orthodox} Easter to anyone in this group who celebrated today! We had an amazing day with family. I went to the midnight church service so I’m super exhausted but it was still a fab holiday!

I was lazy & used reg food coloring ?
But last week I tried a “tie die” method I found on Pinterest! My niece came over to try it with Layla & they loved it. You basically put dollops of cool whip in a muffin/cupcake pan and add different drops of color. The eggs came out soo cool!

Thank You Mary ❤️. I really enjoyed reading that and think it’s a lot like Catholic Holy Week. Plus, it gave me a look into your beautiful traditions & What they mean. You guys sure do know how to do Easter!

Thanks, Tara!!

The eggs are dyed red for the blood of Christ (dark, I know), everyone at church gets a candle & from 1 flame everyone helps spread the light just before midnight. At midnight the priest declares “Christos Anesti!” (Christ is risen) to which we all reply “Alithos Anesti!” (He truly is risen). It’s a beautiful tradition. I only wish I had enjoyed it in my childhood being Syrian (Orthodox) by heritage. Rita Wilson wrote an article about Greek Easter once, & she explains the traditions perfectly: ссылка

Aww, she’s so beautiful!! Tell me more about the red eggs, candle & why the mass is at midnight? Please if you don’t mind? I’m so intrigued and interested. Especially, since you do both Easter/Greek Easter and I’m Greek
