Telling your boss
Help! I’m dreading telling my manager I’m pregnant. But at 14 weeks w/my second pregnancy, I’m starting to show!
Geez. That is crazy to me. As a manager at previous locations and based on my manager now that reaction is ridiculous. If she/he starts giving u a hard time or making things difficult for you make sure u place a call to upper management like HR. Keep a folder and document EVERYTHING with dates. Even write down her reaction as detailed as Possible. It will help u later. Cause let’s be real, even IF u plan on not going back the truth is they don’t know and u can always have a harassment case if u document everything. U would get a nice settlement. Now I’m not saying do any false accusations but protect yourself!!!!
Thanks, @pachecobaby! I didn’t say anything about coming back OR leaving. And her reaction? She dropped her face and covered it with both hands, and said “congratulations.” It was awkward. I told her the due date and she said (face still covered): “OK.” Oh, well! She just has to get over it!
@Despino sorry you have an unsupportive boss, too. Hope it all turns out ok for you!
I'm almost 14 weeks and my boss just asked me for an exact date when I'm leaving and when I'm coming back from maternity leave. She says she's happy for me but really I can tell she's very upset. One of my coworkers who was the best left on maternity leave and ended up not coming back. She's traumatized.
I plan on telling my boss next time I'm in the office (I work from home and have to go to the office once a month) I fully expect her to have a negative reaction and be unsupportive and then make the rest of my time there horrible. It happened when I was pregnant with my son, so I expect it to happen again.
