Thanks, Tara. The dr said the urine sample is not her favorite method bc it doesn't confirm anything like the catheter. It only gives you a straight negative - and if not, it means there MAY or may not be a UTI. She did make a bowel movement in the same diaper, so the dr said it very well could've just been contamination when the nurse was taking it off. Hope sleep gets better for you, too!! ?
Update: So it's not a UTI, bc the Dr says she would've gotten a fever by now but she hasn't had any. She suspects it's just teething bc she has a molar trying to poke through. Sunday night was hell again, awake 9-2:30am. Monday night she slept 12 hours waking up once for a couple mins. Last night was hell again, awake 10:15-2...so it seems to be an every-other-night thing. Praying we get to sleep tonight ??????
Thanks, Tara. Poor Emma!! That sounds so awful. You must've been beside yourself - esp at that age. Layla actually had a great night's sleep: 6:30-6 in her crib without waking us once! I can count on 1 hand the amount of times that's happened since birth. Her pee still stunk when she woke, but at least she got good rest & now we can at least delay the catheter for now. I think my Dr is just hoping it clears up on its own. Is that a thing? I'm praying it is!
Update in comment below
Layla may have a UTI ?
For the past 2 nights, the urine in her overnight diaper has been smelly. And last night, she was up from 9:30 pm-2:30 am crying - at times - inconsolably. It was awful.
I went to the pediatrician today & they put a bag on her to catch some urine for a sample. It was even more awful. Esp removing it. She screamed for every moment with the nurse. The sample didn't come out "clean", but now the next step to diagnose is putting a catheter up there. And it's even more invasive. We decided to stop at the bag today & let her rest, and see how tonight goes. I'm dreading another awful night but I'm also praying it's not a UTI.
Anyone else been through this?
That makes perfect scenes to me. I think that's what happened. Our Doc said it's not his favorite method as well. Besides the sleep is she back to herself? Maybe it was her teeth? Teething has been very hard here and sleep has been nutty. We went to bed at 3AM. That's nuts! I pray you get some sleep. Hugs
