Hypnotherapy Q
Since there are no available hypnobirthing courses in my area, I'd like to go to a qualified hypnotherapist before my baby arrives (in November).

Have you considered the homestudy course for Hypnobabies? A class would be better, but the homestudy has all the hypnosis elements to help you prepare for an easier birth. There may even be an instructor close enough to do a homestudy advantage class in your home, even if the class itself is too far.

I'd recommend home study as well. That's what I'm doing and I love it!

I have considered the home study, but I'm just weighing my options and considering the quickly-accumulating prenatal bills and the hospital bill I'm going to be dealing with- I have a very high deductible on my health insurance this year).
So I was just curious- if I were to choose a qualified hypnotherapist, when would be the best time to go (in my pregnancy)? Thank you, ladies, for your input.

You wouldn't be able to just go once. It would require many times and work from you either way. Honestly, the hypnotherapist that I know would be more expensive in the long run. For something like birth, she would probably want to see you 2-3 times a week for a couple weeks before your birth, and maybe a couple of times even before the "treatment" to lay the foundation. The Hypnobabies home study is only around $150 and it includes a ton of other very valuable information other than just the hypnosis, and you can do it all yourself every day for better results.

Where do you buy the home study? Is it a book or Dvd's?

Double check their available instructors (on the website). They had a training seminar in April and many new instructors are finishing up their certification and so there may be someone new in your area. Taking the class in person would be really awesome if you could (so you have someone to ask question and get answers from) but the homestudy does include a good amount of the materials (books, mp3s, handouts, reference materials).

Hypnobabies has a home study that you can do on your own at home. No classes required. I recommend that and starting no later than 28 weeks.

I found an app called Mind The Bump. It is free but I am not sure if it is free until you get to a certain point. So far I like it and it helps me meditate. I am also reading the Hypnobirth book.
