Lol im very shocked. I drink just socially but i havent had a drink in like 2 years tbh becasue i got pregnant back to back so i didnt have a chance to
My whole extended family drinks together. Usually we have dinner and a game/movie night on Saturday or Sunday and may bust out the blender for some Pina Coladas or margaritas. We don't drink beer much, and we enjoy trying new drinks with each other. Like the other day I made a "Grown Up Raspberry Lemonade" with moscato and vodka and it was a hit with the fam. We enjoy having that time as a family and aren't breaking any laws, so we're cool with it. We understand that we more than likely drink more than other family's find acceptable and that's okay with us. We keep the drinking specific to our gatherings, not others. I'd say we drink 1-2 times a week.
Anywhere from nothing, to 2 glasses of wine, a couple cocktails, or a couple beers. Totally depends. Tough emotional and physical day, hubby and I will break a six pack and smoke a couple cigarettes after babies go-to bed. Normal day, maybe nothing or a beer or wine or two. Helps me unwind, but it's not necessary.
@whit yea I said i drink Maybe 2-3 beers a week after yard work in the summer because it's tasty but I was referring to non alcoholic beer. I'm so used to just calling it beer since all of my friends and family know they are O'Doul's.
But yes I agree that a few sips can be dangerous to someone in recovery. I always talk to my support before hand and stick to some clear rules. It is a lot of effort on my part and it would be best to just steer clear all together.
I'm not swimming in da-nile. Lol but thats okay if you want to believe that. I have full support of my doctor and sponsor and they have never once said I'm in denile or taken a chip away because I told them about new years.
I am not like that crazy pp and I know I have am an alcoholic and know that I will always have to put in work to maintain my sobriety.
You realize if you take a sip of alcohol it does change your BAC from 0.00, it might only be 0.015 but a sip of alcohol still enters your bloodstream. You can't out science, science.
O'Douls fine, but you're not sober, no matter how you wanna spin it to make yourself feel better.
Would you tell a pregnant woman that a sip of alcohol is acceptable? Nooo, because it still enters the bloodstream. Same for you.
@jelly. I underatand how I sound hypocritical but I really think there is a vast difference between smoking drugs and having a literal sip or two of alcohol very infrequently. Like I said. I'll have a beer or small glass of wine for 2 holidays a year, but I never finish the drink because I never want to alter my state of mind. Taking a hit of a drug would be mind altering, so I don't believe that's a fair comparison. When I have said sips or even an O'Doul's my BAC is/never will be over 0.00 so that is why I still consider myself sober.
Maybe I've has a shatty sponsor then because it was never my understanding that having an O'Doul's after working outside would ruin my sobriety. I still eat ripe bananas and drink koumbacha, both of which have alcohol in them. I still consider myself sober because I have never consumed more alcohol than that of 3/4-1 O'Doul's or one full koumbacha.
I personally think it is an all or nothing thing. Thats why I stick to non alcoholic stuff. Like I said, I'll have the alcoholic drink during thanksgiving and new years toasts, but generally because I don't bring my own non alcoholic beers to those kinds of parties. So I'll do the toast and have a sip or two. Then go back to drinking water. Often times I'll only toast with water, but I don't think having a few sips a year will hinder my recovery.
@pp yes which is why I normally stick to the non-alcoholic beers, but I will have a corona or very small glass of wine like 2x a year. Mainly for like thanksgiving toast and the countdown to new years. Other than that its non-alcoholic stuff for me. I'm actually really excited that the liquor store near me started selling this awesome tasting non-alcoholic wine! I get it every few months.
We don't drink much. Every Tuesday night we go and play darts so we will have a couple then, if our football team is playing over the weekend on TV we will get a couple of drinks and have them while watching the game and the odd occasion special events like birthdays, Easter and Christmas
Not very often. When I drink wine, it hits me instantly and makes my face really red and my chest hurts. I feel super drunk over a very small amount, then it passes within 20 minutes.
I can handle beer, and I drink that when I crave it which is normally during summer grilling on the deck 0-2 times a week. Normally only 1-.5 cans.
I really love to drink a nice cold beer after I work in the yard all day. So summer time it's usually like 2-3 beers a week (most of the time I only drink half the beer though) but recently it's been so cold that I don't really feel like beer. I don't even remember the last time I drank.
When I'm not pregnant I'll have a glass of wine after dinner while DD is winding down watching her last cartoon before bed, 3-4 night's a week. It usually ends up being half a glass though because I'm always forgetting about it or I fall asleep lol
Hubby drinks about 3-4 night's a week too depending on if he's going on days or nights. If he's going on nights he has to stay up till about 6am so he will have 4-5 beers while he plays Xbox when me and dd are sleeping. If he's going on days he doesn't drink anything. So he may tally up 6 or 7 beers every two weeks.
My SO has a couple beers after work probably 4 days a week or so. When I’m not pregnant I like drink an Angry Orchard with dinner or a glass of wine about 3-4 days a week. I’m a light weight but I’m such a worrier that a glass definitely helps me unwind.
@livefast that’s an awesome response ? Monday nights are my fav
Nothing. The only time either of us drinks at home is if we have company over. When his dad or brother come over we’ll buy a six pack. Occasionally we’ll order a drink when we go out just the two of us. Both of my parents are recovering alcoholics, so I’m pretty anti-alcohol.
