pumping help.
So my little guy is still in the Nicu. They don't want to put him to breast yet, cause they are keeping track of every feeding closely and adding powder to increase his calorie intake. What are some good tips to increase milk supply?? Or anything I can take orally?
I would look for a lactation cookie recipe online ad take fenugreek pills They helped me. But in reality it's up to you weather you decide to start breastfeed your little one your supply would probably go up if you had baby trying to nurse also pumping more often may help too and increasing your water intake
@allie
I am a NICU RN. If they are allowing him to try to bottle feed at all, they should be allowing him to breastfeed.
He may still need a tube feed immediately after the Breastfeeding if he is sleepy or doesn't do fantastic. Talk to his doctors. If he is bottle feeding even once per day, he should be able to exchange that for a Breastfeeding session instead.
I am pumping every 2 hours. I get about 1 oz per breast. I just feel like it's way to little. He still has a feeding tube and most of his feedings end up going through there in the end.
I would discourage using supplements to increase milk supply unless it is recommended by the lactation consultant. Even though it may not seem like it...you could be producing enough/a normal amount. If you plan to transition baby to the breast you could have issues with over supply making that transition even more difficult.
Talk to lactation consultant too. There is a tea, supplements, I've even heard oatmeal. But I would want to have a lactation consultant do recommendations since baby is a preemie. As far as the other stuff, I agree with what ppl have said re skin to skin, and pumping every 2-3 hrs round the clock and being hydrated!!!!
I have heard of a few supplements you can take. I don't know how well they work. Try googling it. Im sure your will find something helpful you can do on top of pumping. Pp are right day and night wake up to pump. The more times you pump now the more your body will know it needs to make more.
Something that everyone who has deleted this app or uses it in moderation THINKS but doesn’t have the balls to SAY...There should be a specific place for women who are 25 and older. There should also be a monthly membership option for those who want to pay for it. Finally, users should be mandated to post a picture of themselves as a display pic(yes, I recognize the irony of this statement lol.) Honestly, this would seriously increase the quality of the posts and posters. I see why the creators ...
thank you everyone!
Thank you so much for all your love and support. I get my bloodwork back Monday. The bleeding has increased and cramps have started. It's bright red and thick. I'm not holding out hope that it is anything other than a miscarriage. Bleeding, cramps, and a negative pregnancy test....pretty clear. I believe my migraine was triggered by a drop in estrogen. This is 2 mc inside of 40 days. It's pretty mentally draining. Hopefully the dr will examine me to find a solution. I'm def...

Sapphire was born at 8:03pm. Started cervidil last night at about 10pm. It increased my contractions and by this morning I went from 1cm and 75% effaced to 4cm and 90% effaced. So we decided to hold off on anything and monitor me and see what my body did. 2 1/2 hrs they checked me and I went to 6cm and 100% effaced. They broke my water and by around 7:30 was ready to push. I pushed for 20 mins and she came into the world crying with her eyes wide open. 5lbs 11oz 19inches long. No pain meds and a...

Drink tons of water (100 oz) and take tons of Fenugreek- it took forever to get my milk supply up. Those were the only things that worked for me.
